Put a cover over the power switch, too, so that the cat can not reach it! And contact Jack for help Sat.

I'm with Max on this. DO NOT AMEND if they do get a 1099C. It may well be that it's marked correctly as 'bankruptcy', [about 50% of the time] in which case there will be no CP2000 in at lest 60% of the cases. Only respond if they get a CP2000.

http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/01/asus-transformer-book-t100-review/ http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/asus-transformer-book-t100/4505-3126_7-35827544.html http://www.trustedreviews.com/asus-transformer-book-t100_Tablet_review Walmart $379 The keyboard part doesn’t add masses of connections. It brings a single USB 3.0, letting you plug in a mouse, external hard drive or other accessory. The tablet has a micro MDMI video output, a microSD memory card slot, headphone jack and microUSB port. It’s a simple setup, but keeps the tablet easy to operate. A nice feature is that the microUSB is used for charging and data transfer – rather than a proprietary port. This means that you can use an Android phone charger to charge the battery (a 2A charger is needed for full speed charging, though). This just might be my new toy !!!

For those uses, it might be excellent. on the link I sent you, look at the comparisons for the different Surface options, as the less expensive ones might be a good compromise. I've seen the Surface, and it does have some attractive features. Also the newer laptops are a lot lighter and faster and still cost less than they used to, but the longer battery life on the Surface is sure tempting when traveling.

http://reviews.cnet.com/microsoft-surface-pro-2/ good review. I'd still recommend a laptop over this for tax use.

Could be a symptom that your mouse is beginning to develop a problem, tho. I had that problem last year, and as the problem came and went, it took me a while to figure it out. Might want to consider buying a 'backup' mouse, just in case.

Some states do not allow efile of a zero return, so check your state rules to see if that's the reason.
-
You can paper file if the client wants it filed that way. And, if you find an ERO that is willing to efile your returns, you can let them efile for you. What you can not do is to just use someone else's EFIN.

Jack well deserves the kudos. He may occasionally be a bit gruff, but he is really trying to help us all.

One factor no one has mentioned in the Alabama problem is that unlike most southern snowfalls, which when they do happen it's usually at night. So people stay home for a day, and then the roads are usually pretty good by the next day. This time, it started in the middle of the day! So people were at work, kids in school, etc. When they realized it was going to be a problem, folks rushed, or tried to, to pick up the kids or get home, etc. And ended up with those horrible road jams. THE RED ROADS ARE THE ONES CLOSED DUE TO THE SNOW

Back when ATX was still ATX, there was actually a link to let you talk to the developer that was 'in charge' of a specific issue, and using that I was able to talk to the right 'ear' and get real results, fast. Once CCH bought them, that ended. It's a sad fact but realistic, that if ATX has 20,000 users, a few hundred is "too small a subset for us to be concerned about." So what we have to do is get more users to ask!

Remember they probably also have surveillance cameras going

Form 943 for a farmer who did not withhold FICA
kcjenkins replied to Jack from Ohio's topic in General Chat
Doing it that way should still make him happy, since you do not count it as social security and Medicare wages and do not include it in boxes 3 and 5. So he's not paying double on the payroll taxes. And doing it right will not increase his audit risk. -
I agree, TR, it makes sense for a Business return, or a Sch C, but not for a simple 1040. We are not required to audit each client, just to use reasonable judgement.

Jack, please forgive me for editing your post, but I think your message is that important, that I want EVERYONE to read it and take it to heart. Of course, that will not happen, but still, if even a few do make the small effort required, it will still help.

Good point, but maybe first Lion should check with City Hall or County, which ever applies, to see if there are any 'light pollution' laws that might apply. Often are, where people have problems with commercial lights, they pass laws to limit the use of those high-output lights. Not often used in residential areas, but still apply there. Of course, I'm assuming that you already tried asking them nicely to re-aim the light, if possible. Sometimes, just aiming it HIGHER, so that although it still lights up things a lot, at least it's not beaming directly into your windows, so that curtains will work, is enough to make it bearable. Lots of people don't think about aiming it higher, or lower, to control the range of the beam.

ALL Bryson's books are hilarious, as well as educational. Love them.
