  1. It is not clear to me whether she's still in India or already in the US?
  2. Where is your difference coming from?
  3. Good way to handle it, Eric.
  4. I'd get a printout from the casino, if he had their 'loyalty card', which is highly likely, Since he started out with 500 the first trip and got home with 1,000, he had 500 cash plus 800 withheld, so 1,300 in winnings that night. Second night he started with 1,000, ended with zero, so his only winnings was the 4,000 withheld. So I'd say he'd have taxable income of 5,300.
  5. Yep, when I was forced to cut back due to Don's health issues, it was really hard to get the number down. Only thing that really worked was when I finally moved out of state, after he died, and closed my business email account! Still doing just a few, but my own health issues made it easier for me to cut them. I still miss most of them, because so many were long-term clients, and I'd gotten the PITA's out already, and considered many of them personal friends as well as clients. Heck, a significant % were the children of clients, that I watched grow up.
  6. Yes, JB, but not until the IRS turns their system back on.
  7. I have used 123Inkjets with good success. They have been operating since 1998, so they are a stable supply source. Rakuten — formerly Buy.com, is Japan's version of Amazon. It's had some security issues. http://www.head-fi.org/t/665933/warning-to-everyone-do-not-purchase-anything-from-rakuten-com-buy-com http://hbr.org/2013/11/rakutens-ceo-on-humanizing-e-commerce/ar/1
  8. OK, based on that he paid $50K for Goodwill plus a "financing lease" or "lease purchase" for the equipment.
  9. I agree, the 'report' button helps us do our job as mods. And I agree with Eric, we probably should 'hide' more of the hi-jack posts. Better to do that than to let it escalate to where we need to warn or worse.
  10. We all understand, Tom. Most of us have been there a time or two. You have my sympathy.
  11. LOL! No more complaining about the dog getting on the couch.
  12. Good grief, is there nothing you can not find to criticise? I did not suggest using candles as a regular source of heat, but if you are without heat in a storm, it's certainly healthier to breath a little smoke than to freeze! And for such a situation, that link is irrelevant, because, 1 tea candles do not use lead wicks, 2 tea candles do not contain incense, and 3 we are not talking about prolonged use, plus they said in your link "studies regarding potential human health effects associated with soot from candles were not found in the literature search." If you are in a real serious situation, of course you are going to choose a small space to keep warm, and breathing in candle soot is a lot safer than most other options like propane or sterno.
  13. I would not have a problem with showing it as a sale in 2013 given the facts presented.
  14. Which is how they should do it. Giving a copy to the client is never a problem. But those days when a client called up and asked, and we then faxed a copy to the bank, are behind us. Cir 230 now makes that an impossible option.
  15. Seems like a box or two of tea lights and a few flower pots and loaf pans would be a smart, inexpensive part of any emergency kit.

  17. The planner seems to work fine.
  18. It is that tone that is irritating us. Why go out of your way to post a snarky comment? How did it add a thing here? Never mind, I don't need an answer. Your last sentence says it all.
  19. Super cute and smart. Bet he could be a valuable addition to a tax office.
  20. Where did you get that info? Dee's post said LLC changing to S Corp. If, in fact is IS an LLC taxed as corp now, no need to change anything else, that's purely a tax filing issue. But usually, using LLC in the Name without also including Inc, or Corp, suggests to the world that they are dealing with a partnership or individual. Which is why I always advised clients to send a W-9 to any business with just LLC in the business name.
  21. Lucky you. I'd really enjoy meeting him myself. Bet we'd have a great time!
  22. Dee is asking about the NAME not the number. My suggestion would be this: LLC named XYZ LLC opts to change to a Sub S corp. I would then suggest to client that it change to XYZ Corp. I'd also advise them to send a letter to all their customer list, explaining, briefly, the name change.
