  1. Yes, I retired @ 54 into ADG Financial. In my old job I was a Salesmen for an Electronic Co. for about21 years in that path I did about 60k a year. Before that about 35K a year mostly. ADG Financial does well. I use the SS to pay the taxes for the partnership I have with my wife. But My SS goes up every year as well as her's. Believe me when I say your not missing much. It's only a few dollars a month. About a cup of coffee. The COLA more.
  2. Ok, so I reenter the return in ProSeries this Morning. The results: When I hit the 2106 the ProSeriesprompted me with a question as to whether the Form was for the Husband or Spouse. ATX did not. ATX has a check off box but doesn't ask the question. It automatically makes the choice. In final review of the return the software pickup a problem with line 7 and wouldn't clear. It didn't point me to Form 2106 but I would have check further to find the problem. Jack is right I should have caught this error But better software is the answer from humble point of view. August @ ADG Financial
  3. Well I did miss something. And the Marco advice was very helpful. That focused in on the problem. I had (2) 2106's in the return. One for the Husband and one for the Wife. Had the info switched for each with a reimbursed amount for auto expenses of $8500. This resulted in an addition to wages of $7480. Problem solved. Doing an Amended. Client getting a refund of $2,486. between Fed and NY. Now going to redo in ProSeries 2012 and see if it will pickup this error up because ATX didn't. Don't think it will but want to know as this has happen before but most don't get the reimbursed auto expenses so doesn't cause a problem. Thanks to all for the help. August
  4. No dependent care credit and W-2 are duplicated just as they are. I did this return back in 2013. I have this program totally updated. The client just did his 2013 taxes. I now use ProSeries for this year. I will have to check all my 2012 8879's to see if there are errors in addition on other returns for 2012. This has me worried. 2012 was a train wreck but I had no idea that It could be this bad. August
  5. Client came in today with a problem on his 2012 return I did. This year(2013) he did his own and used mine as a guide. Changed jobs and had the time to work on his own this year which he just did. The problem: Line 7 Wages. Husband has W-2 for 88,153. and Wife has W-2 for 90,302. the total is $178,455. ATX Program carries over $185,935. I have checked this over and over. I don't understand this. Now I'm worried about the rest of the 600 return I did in 2012. Anyone else see anything like this. August
  6. Like most I'm on many on-line Forums. I'm become aware of a new one that just begun. That some of you might find useful and helpful. www.TaxProTalk.com August
  7. I switched to ProSeries and won't be back. I like the support and program. over ATX. I call them and someone actually answers the phone and know what they are talking about. The product works and I don't have to look for work arounds. The price is a little higher but worth it.
  8. I had one reject on a 2013 death. In checking with ProSeries Support this is new this year. Because of ID theft these will need to be paper filed going forward. I believe the 2014 deaths with go thru okay as I have had one of those e-filed with no problem.
  9. I had my IT guy build me a SSD clickfree backup device. Cost me about $150. Takes about 10 sec. to back the 136Returns I've done to date. You might consider this as another was of tackling this problem.
  10. Got this from NATP ON 2/6/14.... SID Replaces DCN Since the IRS is retiring the IMF Legacy e-File system, and the Declaration Control Number (DCN) is not used by MeF, the DCN has been removed from the Form 8453. In addition, the DCN has been removed from the Forms 8878, 8879 and 9325, but was replaced with the Submission ID (SID). Generally, this SID number is automatically generated by your computer system upon preparing the return for e-file. However, correspondence from some software companies state you must manually enter the SID number after filing on Form 8878, 8879 or 9325 or print out new forms with the SID number entered once it has been e-filed. This is not necessarily true. You are permitted to retain the e-file acknowledgement letter along with the signed Form 8878 or 8879 in the client’s file. You are not required to enter the SID on the Form 8878, 8879 or 9325 and reprint them.
  11. Well up to 34 accepted now but still no New York. IRS system seems to be working great will be glad when NY finally starts accepting some of my returns.
  12. E-filed my first 2 1040 returns last night after checking with others who were getting them back accepted. Got mine this morning accepted. Sent up another 20 this morning at 8:30. The IRS system seem to be working okay. Still waiting on NY but have heard they are already posting checks.
  13. We ask to see 12 Mo.'s Bank Statements for all Sch C clients. Just to verify income. Especially in EIC cases. This has not been a problem with our clients. We don't do the bookkeeping just verify the income. The also sign an engagement letter. But at the least I want the income dead on.
  14. This might help some. This not official but it's something. http://igotmyrefund.com/2014-irs-e-file-refund-cycle-chart/
  15. Mine does that too. I've been right clicking and picking open to avoid that nuisance.
  16. Well it starts. Did 4 1040 returns. One with a simple Sch. C since Friday. I think this is going to be good year. I'm holding the returns until the end of the month before I e-file them just incase they forgot a something. But glad to have the work to start again. More appointments Monday.
  17. Mamalady, that is my EIC engagement letter. On my letterhead clients name, SS# and date of tax appointment meeting and then they sign it. Keep with the 8879 in my file. Mr. Girard went over the questions on the Paid Preparer’s Income Credit Checklist Form 8867 with me for 2013. I had ample time to review the questions and to the best of my knowledge they are accurate August
  18. Not sure I would even have if it wasn't required by my insurance carriers to sell LTC. August
  19. I use EZ Insurance Solutions. Hatboro, Pa My agent is Affinity Insurance Services. 866-225-8464 100,000 / 250,000 Deductible 1,000 Financial Planning Coverage Annual Premium: $522.00 I think that is a fair rate. Using them since 2005. No claims so can't say how they are if I had a problem. Been in business since 1985 and no real issues yet to deal with anyway. If you don't financial services or insurance think it's less cost. If you do write up it more expensive. August
  20. We do an EIC engagement letter. Has their SS#, name and date they were in to have their taxes done. I go over the 8867 with them. The question aren't that hard. I don't do that many EIC returns, maybe 50 out of the 600 returns we do. I think the EIC engagement letter covers me. I tell them the gov't is cracking down and needs this information. If it's incorrect they may have to pay it back. They have no problem signing. The key statement on the letter: "Mr. Girard went over the questions on the Paid Preparer’s Income Credit Checklist Form 8867 with me for 2013. I had ample time to review the questions and to the best of my knowledge they are accurate." August
  21. As most know I've moved on to ProSeries. But I checked with both ATX and ProSeries in June before I got my Win 7 machine both advise me to get the Win 7. The new software will work on Win 8 but the older TAX software might be a problem. If you need to do a 2011 return for example you may have to do it on another machine to make it work. Both companies told me this. I called them and ask before I purchased. August
  22. I agree with Mamalody. I did away with the desktop and went with a laptop for my main computer. Use the Win 7 desktop for the ATX 2012 returns and the laptop for ProSeries. Laptop is also a Win 7 but an SSD drive. I won't take it on the road for security reasons but this machine is better and gives me more options if I need to take it out of the office. August
  23. Just wondering what computer system are you using?
  24. I guess the $995. price and deferred billing had to come from somewhere. August
