  1. i thought so...LOL! your self righteous offense at a vulgar response depends on your own self interest.
  2. my considered, late arriving (mon 2/4/13) experience to the atx game...it is not about hardware. the ongoing, crash and burn problem with atx involves NETWORKS and/or prior rollover edits/changes of forms, letters, etc. my keep it simple stupid (KISS) experiment seems to work...a standalone xp install/rollover, without any prior edit/changes. still, since this KISS method seems to work, i have upgraded to a win7 system...it seems to work, also.
  3. my 1c share. i believe less is way more (KISS, keep it simple stupid)...no letters, instructions, etc. taxpayers do not know anything about filing...you/we do...so, i print 1 basic copy for client and 1 basic preparer copy for my file...with no extraneous crap attached. the end...and they all lived happily ever after.
  4. before i answer...will you be offended by a vulger suggestion?
  5. omg...eric has been sucked into an off topic thread...not that there is anything wrong with that!
  6. bye bye, mm. i always liked how your "NEW YORK CITY!" smarts was tempered with down to earth insights.
  7. jeez jainen...put on your big boy pants. do you think you have a free pass to run over posters without some blowback? you ignore your ad hominem/strawman attack at me that started this mess..."Then they need a better tax advisor!" i don't disagree with your references to proper tax law and procedure. in fact, i appreciate it, learn from it, and almost always agree with it.
  8. "but...blah, blah, blah"...since you insist on spinning your better tax advisor strawman fallacy, you are not sorry about anything asshat...sorry if i offend you. what % of the gambling public do you think has a log book? my guess...less than 5%.
  9. who said i don't tell them about recordkeeping? oh, it was you, mr strawman. i guess a better tax advisor doesn't need adequate logical skills.
  10. The way you pull that off is with a contemporaneous logbook and other documentation showing the details required in Pub 529. and there is the rub...LOL! grandma or anyone else does not have this logbook.
  11. mm...i believe you have other, high profile (expensive) tax programs in your business mix. have you decided to replace your low rent program (atx) with proseries? i hope you stick around the alt atx board.
  12. didn't everyone's user name automatically defaut to 'admin' at setup? did you enter a password as your user name?
  13. if i understand what you want to know... any transmitted/rejected efiled return basically kicks it back to return manager to correct and (re) create efile.
  14. jeez atx masters on this independent forum...cut the newbies some slack. even if they aren't sure what forum they are on, you know. i don't see what caused the hostility from the original post. yeah, they are somewhat late arrivals to the atx mess. still, they are having problems with the atx program and want some help... along with thousands of others. @atx2012sucks: i'll throw you a bone... you want - community.atxinc.com/forums - for the real atx website. be prepared to jump through hoops to login. there you will find many, many, many atx posters like you who are waiting for answers from atx. atx's latest promise for salvation, in a long list of failed promises, is an update on monday, 1/28/13.
  15. i appreciate and have gained benefit from taxed contribution/critique here or anywhere. if it rubs trx or others the wrong way...get over it. spoiler alert for those with a truncated memory. this is not a trx board or any tax program board.
  16. is it still happening even after you have reset the password? the password needs to be reset every 90 days as you no doubt know (and case sensitive i believe) plus cust id# and user name (admin). to keep me somewhat organized i use this format... ******moyr (a simple code name that stays the same plus the mo/yr i reset the password). the moyr combo will always be different when i reset. since you got back in, it seems the password took.
  17. damn...i'll have to show the article to my clients when i increase their bill 50 - 100%, especially on the non sch a forms and schedules.
  18. a fellow on the other board suggested that the 2011 and before ability of atx to unprotect, change, create, and alter all kinds of things within the program is the reason why 2012 won't rollover, is slow, crashes, etc. there is no clean/equivalent/known place in the new/different program format for the prior spreadsheet format data to go...without creating many (a gazillion?) exceptions in the code...it is what they seem to be doing one guinea pig beta tester at a time.
  19. lindakay...from another thread, i see you bought drake. merry tax season to you.
  20. "I'm not sure anyone can break into the market like that anymore" sure they can...econ 101 competition - the supply/demand curve of quantity/price. others did it before atx...others have done it or are trying to do it after atx. trx is trying to do it...i'm wishing and hoping for them.
  21. i would love for trx to become a new (and reliable) lower cost tax program standard... like saber/atx of 15 years ago...a tax program that initially well served small to medium sized tax prep offices for many years. trx has been working on it for several/many years...it is not there yet. i hope it gets there very soon.
  22. ed and taxea...do you have a functioning tax program? please! who is it?
  23. i don't think any return with a deprn sch will be functional until the irs releases fm 4562 (late feb/march, lol!) no soup for you!...end of the line!
  24. what i gather from the regular atx community panic attack forum...depreciation will not work until the irs releases the schedule (late feb/march? lol). personally, i am preparing for a long and hard tax season slog...and any return with a dep sch is backed up to the end of the line. hopefully, there will be an extended filing deadline (for late filing penalty purposes)...in addition to the available 6 month extension period.
  25. i have been doing tax returns for 25 years (i quit counting at 25). i am convinced, over a few or several years, anyone who wants to try to do their own tax return to save a small/larger tax prep fee is making a mistake. eventually it will be a small ($50 minimum) to larger ($100 to ????) mistake...and many times over, even in one year. i don't care how "simple" you preparers (who should know better) or they think their return is. add so called "simple" state returns that also have many tax benefit loophole/laws. who does the state return? why do you think the feds promote free, do it yourself online tax returns...while hammering small, medium, and large independent tax preparers (except the big box firms who who lobby congress with bribe money for exceptions) with increasing requirements, threats, and sanctions? turbotax/do it yourself returns overstate tax liability.
