Just trying to trace the money from ebay to...in hopes it was to the partnership's bank and not a partner's pocket. As long as they recorded what they did, you'll be able to report it. Follow the money.

Does the partnership had a banking account? Did they move funds from e-Bay into their partnership account? You have a great training opportunity with a start-up partnership. And, maybe a bookkeeping opportunity.

We got less than anticipated; although, it'll take a while to get the streets clean. We'd had Code Red robocalls from the state and from Weston leading into the storm, but the call late this morning said all is well but please don't drive until roads get plowed. Our plow guy did plow our driveway during the night, so there aren't very many inches of snow on it and we have an Outback. We did not lose power, but finally have a generator so was not as worried about that. I'd been hearing about Nantucket. Steve has some cousins in several MA towns. One along the MA coast just had his appendix removed so was worried about having to shovel. Haven't seen them post on FaceBook yet to know how he fared. Be kind to your back as you dig your way out.

What about the greater than 2% shareholder who has their company reimburse their health premiums and has other employees/nonshareholders? Add it to 1 and deduct on the front. Add it to 1, 3, 5 and deduct on A? Some combination?

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tips-for-Choosing-a-Tax-Return-Preparer See bullet point six. It's probably in here someplace: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1345.pdf especially pages 11, 12, 27 (what to keep)...

Yeah, read the association documents. Used to have a couple of 1120-Hs, but no longer, where association owned common areas. Also, have a client who's an owner in a coop. She and her fellow owners actually own everything, via shares based on floor plans. They have a board of directors, but no "association" that owns anything. Board retains an accounting/bookkeeping firm that sends out the letter to the owners each year with each owner's share of property taxes, etc. (And, deals with bids and oversight when the board votes to re-roof or whatever. Then the letter includes an increase in cost basis for each owner. That kind of thing.)

I do about the same as Catherine. If clients mention my working alone, I tell them about my virtual water coolers such as this forum and my favorite local group the NY/CT-ATP (Association of Tax Professionals) if I need to stress that I have backup when needed.

Well, the cleaning lady just cleans. If I don't clear off the kitchen table, she can't wash it. If I don't get stacks of newspapers off the living room floor, she can't vacuum it. Today she really couldn't clean the family room, because I have two corners of it filled with boxes I'd moved from my office when clients came and from my usual "holding tank" guest room when I actually had guests and some more stacks that are hubby's plus some stray Christmas boxes and things. Once upon a time I cleaned my office well at the end of tax season and before the new season began, but now the season never ends. One time I'd even picked up enough that the cleaning lady cleaned my office. But, I can't get things cleared out enough to really dust and vacuum. It's one section at a time when I expect clients. I have a friend who sees clients in his conference room so his office can stay the way he works. I have met clients in my dining room or living room when I don't want to move my stacks while in the middle of a complex return. Thank goodness most use the mail slot in my front door, upload to FileShare on my website, FedEx to me, etc.

Partnership and uncleared/cashed checks and 1099's

I have a problem with an S-corp who wants his return soon but hasn't looked at his December statements. We took a peek at the payroll account statement yesterday as we knew one payroll bounced back and forth while between lines of credit. Well, pay went to employees and then back into bank (this was all about 12/2) but never back to employees per statement !! Bookkeeper is sure she got December direct deposit, though. It's going to be a mess. And, this a multi-million dollar corp where I really need to research and probably file 3115s, so not happy that I have another issue to research when he flat-out refused to go on extension -- a conversation we've been having for months, but yesterday his wife said No. He's already looking at new banks, so I think the bank may have messed up royally with the December 2014 payroll not actually getting paid until January 2015. -
We're old enough that we treated ourselves to a cleaning lady every couple of weeks for the main rooms of the house. But, not the guest room or my office (I'd have to put stacks away) or our kid's old room that houses hubby's computer. It does include the hall bathroom that clients would use, though, as well as our master bath. Much easier on my aching back and allergies. (Now she refuses to use my vacuum with the hepa filters and uses her old Oreck that leaves a toxic cloud. Today, I'm trying to get out of the house to see a biz client before she vacuums.) That's why I'm in the organizational pickle with stacks stacked on stacks in crates due to getting them out when a client would be coming! I did add a deadbolt to my office door. And, have certain drawers and cabinets that lock. But, out of sight, out of mind. Am trying to alleviate stacks before first new client's appointment, so I don't just throw them together again and lock them in the guestroom. We'll see how far I get.

The dust is really bad. I keep a Swiffer duster under my desk, but don't use it as often as I used to. The blinds are especially bad, so I try not to have clients in during daylight hours! I can't remember when I vacuumed. Forgot I overflowed into the family room too, especially hubby's cubby. He couldn't reach his own files, so moved my things out. Cleaning lady coming tomorrow morning. She doesn't clean my office, but does vacuum the family room. So, have to figure out where to put those boxes. I was doing OK with each stack denoting a client, but a bunch of stacks went into various crates and boxes when I did have clients in. Now I need to sort those boxes back into stacks and hope they're still chronological via due dates/promised dates/etc.

I think the dead poinsettia is a nice touch, yes?

A cousin had a defibrillator implanted. Surgeon told his wife they test it while he's still on the table via remote control. Wife asked if she could buy a remote. As far as we know, the answer was No.

OK, so I've already forgotten how to post a picture! Please refresh my memory, and I'll show you my office is as messy as my mind...

Anyone using fee collect prepared a return yet?

It just needs the microphone "hole." -
I have stuff in the guest room across the hall and stuff under my desk and under my other desk. And, now with no clients around I have about a dozen stacks on my desk, four stacks stuffed in the bookshelves on top of the neatly aligned folders, another half dozen stacks on my other desk, and another half dozen crates, shopping bags, etc. on the floor! And, don't even get me started on my own tax returns/documents for the last half dozen years in a huge stack totally unassembled in the closet, almost reaching to the pole. I will clean before clients arrive in February. Except for the closet and guest room. My office looked like the pictures for about 12 hours!

Wouldn't having a cow be a good thing in your area?!
-
That makes me feel a little better.

Yes, I do want the forms to autofill as well. And, I want the program to explain to the client WHY they should be on extension. And, dust/vacuum my office
-
I reacted the same way as during the countdown to Christmas. I am NOT ready!

Does anyone have a list of which states' extensions can be efiled?

Sometimes I have a prior year return open, usually the .pdf. But, most of the time the prior year numbers/info on the current year data entry screen is sufficient. Today my office is a huge mess. My first firm appointment isn't until Monday 2 February, so I'll probably clean that weekend !!
