  1. My hubby has hundreds of books on his iPhone. Loves it. It's always in his pocket anyway, for those waits at the doctor's office or in long lines. He reads it in bed to not have the lamp on. When he's traveling, all the books he's reading simultaneously are always with him, as well as hundreds of extras to start when he's in the mood. It's small and lightweight, back lit, adjustable fonts, etc. And, it's his iPhone, so he has internet, all his online newspapers, Navigon, TV schedules (can tell us where to find a Law & Order rerun), contact lists, cell phone, everything he could want. Now that he has some arthritis problems, he'll use it for EVERYTHING instead of walking up the steep stairway (former attic) to our son's old room where he has his desktop computer. He sits in the living room with his iPhone reading.

  5. It doesn't matter if it's a hardship, still income tax + 10% early withdrawal penalty. Hardship does not save on taxes or penalties. It might allow an employee to withdraw from an employer's plan. Why doesn't she roll over her 401(k) to an IRA now that she left her job? Withdrawal from an IRA for education can have benefits. With a 401(k), about her only benefit is borrowing and repaying herself with interest; but that's unlikely now that she left her job. Student loans probably have a lower interest rate than her combined income tax rate, and they can often be deferred until after she graduates. Has she worked with the financial aid department of her college?

  9. Those will be amazing pictures!
  10. I also have that overlap problem in my profile. I was able to solve some of my picture posting problems with F5 Refresh, at Eric's suggestion. I guess we'll have to ask him about the overlap, though. Oh, and the dress was a cheapie at Dress Barn Outlet and chosen by my husband, daughter, and new daughter-in-law/bride, over a Lord & Taylor dress! (It photographs blue instead of deep purple in some of the pictures.) Of course, I then spent a fortune on shoes, hose, underwear, etc., to wear with it.
  11. Friday 15 October at one minute before midnight local time, per CCH. Then they get ready for 2010 returns. However, returns going through the modernized system, mostly entities, can be from "prior" years.
  12. Thank you. My son with his new bride at Starlight Lake, PA. He's an innkeeper and she's the executive chef of The Inn at Starlight Lake. My profile picture adds me and my husband and our daughter to the bride and groom. InnAtStarlightLake.com or find them on Facebook.
  13. I have one still re-doing and faxing/emailing me her spreadsheets re her gains/losses. Still not managing to follow my directions, so I typed in all her trades. Gotta get her out the door this afternoon as my last one (I hope!) arrived this morning with self-employment and it's own twists. And, I gave up on my back spasms around 4 a.m. and took the muscle relaxants and went to bed; now I'm still in a medicated fog at noon! Good luck, Joan and all of us. :scratch_head:
  14. And, a new client after tax season as you set them up with a brand new QB file to get them correct and up to date for 2010 and going forward...
  15. Have a very At my age, just getting to the next year IS a big one! May you have lots more big ones, lots more decades, with all the little ones in between.

  17. A good stiff drink, but not until Friday night !! Congrats, Gail.

  19. I'm not fond of 15 October instead of 15 August, so 11 November would have me ballistic with some of my clients, I'm sure! Need time to sort and file and shred and catch up on laundry and clean house and get reacquainted with my husband and.... (Our own 2007 and 2008 returns & documents are in a huge, uncollated pile on the floor of my office closet, probably to be joined soon by 2009.) Have our own return almost ready to go while waiting on information from clients who fully expect me to prepare their returns as if they're my only client in the whole wide world. But, need to transmit ours sooner rather than later in case my stepdaughter's mother claimed her for 2009 and we get rejected. And, actually glanced at the wedding pictures on our camera and some sent to me by my ex's stepbrother. Don't know what I'd do without this board to vent.
  20. I'm working on mine. YIKES!!!!! And, two who haven't dropped off yet, one who isn't responding, a sinus infection that won't go away, just returned from my son's wedding, and have a week full of events leading up to our rector's retirement a week from today. Good luck to all of us.:spaz:

    Efile

You can efile just about any returns. Definitely 2009 Forms 1040 and 1065. 2009 Form 1040 only through 15 October, though.
  22. Hope you had a very (I was between two mountain ranges with no internet, wifi, cell, etc.)
  23. Thank you everyone. And, a special shout out to Catherine who's preparing one of my returns! Just returned and not quite unpacked and need to go to a client site (S-corp) all day and evening Thursday for a bookkeeping gig. Then back to about four more extended returns! All I can say is that when your son walks up to you at his wedding reception, takes your hand, and dances with you -- well, looking up into his eyes, all grown up and married and handsome in his tux -- it's right up there with the first time I held him when he was born! We had a week of rain, but the sun shone on their wedding day. The bride and groom were happy and loving. My sister who's been ill for a very long time met her goal of eating Mexican food and looking fabulous at her nephew's wedding. When I catch my breath, I'll post pictures.

    PTIN

Mine is P00005702. Hope I get to keep it. But, I'm waiting until they get the bugs out. For instance, it's been wanting the wrong number of digits for your CAF, so you have to leave it blank to get the application through and update it some other time. I'll wait until December, at least, or maybe November. My clients don't come in early, so I could wait until January or February, but probably won't.
  25. Have a very :bday:
