  1. I finally got a ring at 10:59AM, but was on hold until 11:31AM. This is fine, I understand that tax season is in full swing and wait times cannot be helped. I did get through though and spoke with Chris. I was trying to reach Doug, but he was not in the office. Chris gave his son Dustin the message to call me back. Now I wait
  2. That's what I miss about Texas. Even their winter season never dropped below 30. That alone is a heat wave for Maine!
  3. What have been your experiences with TRX Technical Support / Customer Service? How long are the wait times? How are the representatives? I have been trying to call the 866-829-9777 number for the past ½ hour with no luck. All I get is a busy signal.
  4. I lived in Texas for short while and I do miss the South. I'd love to go back.
  5. Be thankful you do not live in Northern Maine, as it is currently -35 below outside. Last night and early this morning it was -48, and this weekend is supposed to be the same. Please save me
  6. My guess would be not to. When you e-file through programs, such as ATX, the program converts the file to a specific file type that the IRS needs. A simple .txt file may not be accepted, but that is my guess.
  7. Sometimes if you delete the Invoice from the return, save return, close return, open back up and then add a new Invoice sheet the information flows over. Not sure why that is, but sometimes all it needs is a refresher to get it going.
  8. Impressive! My only regret in life is not learning to play an instrument at a younger age..
  9. I have not used this program, but word of mouth is that since CCH has bought ATX, there have been no major changes, added features and /or bells & whistles. I'm assuming that if it didn't get the best of reviews last year, it will not again this year. This is just my opinion.
  10. That's correct, they are not accepting any e-files until the 15th, test or other wise. Not sure when today that is going to start, but today is the big day!
  11. Our techs here are all seasoned vets of ATX and 1 has told me that when you batch print, it will only print to paper. If you want a PDF created, you will have to do that separately.
  12. I can only answer your 1st question - Yes, print 10-20 at a time to avoid program from freezing. We actually had a client today who lost hundreds of W2's today from doing a batch print. Program froze, and when reopened, realized all the info was gone from all of them. Luckily, we found a way to restore all the info, but to avoid that happening to you please select so many at a time.
  13. I am not a tax professional, nor have I ever had to do anything like this. Although, the suggestions you put out there are good ones. I personally like the second option. Family, or someone close to the deceased, would be the first ones to assist in funeral arrangements. If the director is allowed to give out info like that, that would be your best bet. Even if he cannot relay info such as that, I'm sure he'd help in ways that he could. Wouldn't hurt anything to give it a try?
  14. We got a good chuckle out of this too. Especially when he came rounding the corner wand held high and a huge smile on his face letting all of us know he was proud to be a princess. The boss came out and he twirled that wand and said, "Twinkle, Twinkle.." I'm laughing just from rethinking the situation.
  15. I requested a demo from TRXPro on 01/05 and still have not gotten that either. They keep sending me emails trying to get me to sign up. I've called them twice (Kathy Hughes - the one sending email) and left voice mails explaining why I got the demo - not to prepare taxes, but to better help our customers and she still sends me email.
  16. I don't know about others, but I thought it was funny. I was expecting this great outcome then it hits me that the "daughter" was actually the mother. It did make me chuckle.
  17. Before you guys take a look at this picture, let me put the background behind the story. Kerry's nickname here is Princess. Not sure why he is called that, or when it was started, but I do know it was started by one of the partners here. I guess he just thought it was funny. Well, the partners went to Phoenix over the weekend and found him a cute t-shirt which they bought and gave to him today. Then our manager went out and bought our princess some accessories to match. He agreed to strike a pose and conjure his magic. He is going to kill me and will probably get me back twice as worse, but you guys really need to see this! "It really isn't easy being a princess."
  18. @MargaretMort - This is true. Caribou is very small compared to the big cities and big banks. You can walk in and they know you by name. It's a great way to live, but not a great way to conduct business in that sense. I see what everyone means about changing banks. @jainen - Twice I stated they were not tax preparers. It was a relative who was doing their taxes online and suggested they could do mine as well. The only returns this persons does is their own and occaisionaly mine. I, myself, me who is also not a tax preparer / professional and someone who did not have the software to prepare it, allowed them to do mine as well. Just a plain old 1040 / Maine State return, nothing special, all it took was to enter W2 information and let the info flow over. And to add more to the story, it was right after I was getting back from military training and did not have a local bank. I was busy with other things and did not have the time to set up a bank account so I had them deposit my refund into their account. As far as our company helping people like yourself has nothing to do with my tax return. For one thing, it was years, and I do want to restate "years" ago. Long before VMSUS, long before CCH buying up ATX from UCG, long before UCG buying out ATX for the first time. My tax return has had, and further more, will have nothing to do with the abilily, professionalism and ethical standards of VMSUS. Honestly, I don't see how a mother of 3 helping out 1 of her sons with his taxes even relates to VMSUS. She is not a tax preparer. Just an average "Joe Shmoe" doing her taxes like every other god fearing citizen does when that time of year comes around. The reason I asked this question was because I noticed a topic where it had been discussed on this forum. Upon seeing that, in my mind, I realized that "wow, maybe that was against the IRS rules." Then, after the realization set in that I had no understanding of tax law, began thinking it only applied to CPA's, PA's, EA's or other associated tax professionals. Thinking back, a Form 8888 wasn't even used in the return. All bank info was input directly onto the 1040 and then efiled. In no way am I trying to sound condescending, brutal, harsh or trying demean the great community of this forum. I knew you guys were the ones to ask and came to the conclusion that my question would best be asked here. Since this was long ago, it probably didn't matter either way if I asked or not, but I'm the type of person to continually keep thinking about it until I get the answer. So in that sense, I do want to thank everyone for their knowledge. I feel all this has to get out, because some people are taking this in a direction I never intended, or even thought it would go. @BulldogTom - This is a question that probably should not be answered in the public eye. We should discuss this tomorrow. Why don't you give me a call and we can work something out
