  1. That's okay Lion - Nor do I still work there and I try to help out when I can.
  2. I know that TRX has been very busy the past week, since e-filing started up. Their phones are ringing off the hook and they have been looking for ways to better serve their customers. He probably doesn't have much time to himself to get on here, but I see what you're saying David. This would be the first place to post something like that. What caught me by surprise was the content of the email. It seems like it was a rushed decision to send that out and they didn't have time to really think it through.
  3. @Maribeth - I am so happy to hear that. This is why we are here and this is what we love doing. I would not want a different job whatsoever and when the future comes calling, I guarantee I'll still be in this field one way or another helping out professionals just like yourself. Thanks for the great feedback!
  4. Two days ago, average phone que time was 90 minutes. Hopefully that has gone down a bit.
  5. 7 degrees of Blonde FIRST DEGREE A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The very blonde wife picked up the phone, listened a moment and said 'How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!' and hung up. The husband said, 'Who was that?' The wife answered, 'I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear.' SECOND DEGREE Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, 'Hmm, this person looks familiar.' The second blonde says, 'Here, let me see!' So, the first blonde hands her the compact. The second blonde looks in the mirror and says, 'You dummy, it's me!' THIRD DEGREE A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so,she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head. The boyfriend yells, 'No, honey, don't do it!!!' The blonde replies, 'Shut up, you're next!' FOURTH DEGREE A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, 'Go ahead, ask me, ... I know 'em all.' A friend says, 'OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin ?' The blonde replies, 'Oh, that's easy ... it's W.' FIFTH DEGREE Q: What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant? A: 'Is it mine?' SIXTH DEGREE Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA Freshman, sat in her US Government class. The professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about. Bambi pondered the question; then, finally, said, 'That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware .' SEVENTH DEGREE Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was the first to respond. As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, 'I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!'
  6. AND.. you never know, maybe for some oddball reason it'll get rejected?
  7. That's too funny. I'll keep that in mind when giving out referrals.
  8. You're completely right - It is what it is. Just wish we lived in a world where everyone was honest.
  9. Hello to all - Do any of you mind being mentioned on this board as being our beloved VMSUS customers? Sometimes when I speak with people they ask for referrals to speak with, or other members ask who else is a member of this forum and also our customer. I keep that information to myself, but I wanted to find out if anyone would mind if I did every once in a while, mention you by username. If you do not mind, just reply to this thread. If you would rather not be mentioned, send me a personal message. I do appreciate all that you guys have done. Thanks in advance!
  10. I dealt with a situation like that a month ago when calling Verizon Tech Support (located in India) with trouble setting up my high speed internet. Wait times were 20 minutes to get through and I got disconnected 2 separate times. After the 3rd call, I finally got a woman who I could semi understand and she squared me away after 5 minutes, whereas the previous two we had talked for over 30 minutes a piece to no avail before getting disconnected. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper and it made me empathize with what most of you go through. All of you deserve a pat on the back!
  11. @kcjenkins - God might not try to keep up with the ever changing tax code, regs, rulings and court decisions, but what if someone else did? The IRS website provides everything at your fingertips, but often times, very hard to find. It's clutter and no easy way to navigate. Other times you have to go elsewhere to find information. What if there was a site available to everyone that archived EVERYTHING tax? @David1980 - Statistics are correct. There are always the untypical turnouts where everything defies reason, but especially the rural area I'm from you see this all the time. It's something that's very real, and for the most part, things do not change. In all honestly, of all the friends I had through school / life with poor to working class parents, who went without at times and only got the bare minimum at other times, myself included, I can say about 20% of that group actually turned our lives around, went to college, didn't have kids right out of high school, left the area (eventually to come back), some even have their own businesses and the list could go on. Here is a real statistic to wrap your heads around. My High School class had 23 students - Only 20 of us actually graduated - Only 4, including me, went to college and another 2 joined some part of the military. Of that 20, most are still living in the area with families of at least 1 kid up to 3, on some sort of government aid, most not working and if they do, it's like that woman Janitor Bob mentioned yesterday. Would quit her job as soon as she hit the EIC max. @Cathy - It's great that some families do take advantage of EIC and use it wisely instead of taking advantage of the fact it's there to plunder. I would have loved to see their surprised expressions. Just knowing they were excited would have made my day. Do you have a link or any more info on the 2009 EIC max? IRS Pub?
  12. @mccoystax - What we used to see a lot, as one who supported ATX software years back, is that when a preparer would tab through the fields sometimes would accidentally hit the return key and leave a space there, or would simply hit another character as Tax Prep by Deb suggested. But what I would try, is go to the EIN field make sure they isn't a random character in there, or even click in the field and delete spaces if any. Another thing that would work is deleting the form, save return, open form again, make sure all info is correct, save return and then try to create e-file once more. Sometimes all it takes is a little refreshing.
  13. Maybe since the call wait times are long, people are starting to run to the MyATX site and there's too many people viewing it. That would mess with the bandwidth and make it temporarily unavailable until other people have stopped viewing. I'm not positive that is whats happening, but a guess.
  14. It is crazy and you would think there would be a way to correct that, but believe it or not, this type of thing happens quite frequently.
  15. I just meant filing single / myself. No other dependents. Wasn't quite sure if HOH was the right lingo or not. Thanks for the info mcb39!
  16. Unlimited Technical Support stayed the same at $199 for a full year though Thanks for the info KC, it's also interesting to learn something new.
  17. KC & Others - As a tax professional, do you often find yourself wasting time trying to find tax regs, rules, pubs online? Is there really any type of website that has "EVERYTHING TAX" located centrally?
  18. @taxxcpa - A lot of people I know have quit the same way. They picked up a Life Saver addiction and eventually kicked that habit as well. I can't imagine being on hold for 9 hours (referring to "Technical Support" thread). Longest average wait time should only be around 1 1/2 - 2 hrs during the peak. Those hold times alone are bad enough and the provider should be looking at other avenues to provide support.
