  1. She said that's what she needed to know. All set for now. Thanks Joel & Bart!
  2. My mom is doing taxes for my grandparents and we have a question about Line 23c. Instructions for line 23c states 'the real estate taxes must be taxes that would have been deductible on Sch A (Form 1040) if you had itemized your deductions'. Since my grandparents have never itemized and will not itemize this year, can they still include what they paid for real estate taxes?
  3. We should get Eric to create another group for the ones who have 1000+ posts, such as KC! Call it something like ATX Addict or ATX Lifer..
  4. Hey Atticus - Do you get a comission for getting someone to do their taxes online who was directed from your site? I'm just curious more than anything. Didn't realize 1040.com was owned by Drake.
  5. :bday: TO CATHERINE!! We can celebrate our birthdays together, today!! Thanks to all who have greeted me and Thank You to all who will follow. Hope everyone is having a great day, as I am also!
  6. He's holding strong at 499 - I think he's holding off on that last 1 for the best post ever! Unless, he started celebrating too early and now he and Mary are passed out by the fountain?
  7. They make everything else available. Why can't they offer a link to the database? Not access to the database, but just a link to check against all EFIN's used. I think it would be easy, but that's just me.
  8. Don't blame you! Almost there - 1 to go - SO HOW'S THE WEATHER IN OHIO TODAY?
  9. There is soon to be another inducted member to this elite group! Janitor Bob seems to be only 3 posts away! Congrats to you - you crazy frikkin banana lover!!
  10. You didn't hear? With the new ATX update, there was an addition of the W2 fairy. There was some concern that the forms were thinking of starting a revolt and leave ATX for good. ATX had to send in a peacemaker, but living quarters were sparse and they coaxed the fairy into joining their escapade. I guess the plan back fired, because the W2 fairy was doing all sorts of quirky things to annoy the creators. I'm surprised you didn't read about this? It's been all over the news lately.. wow. It's been a long day! Is it 5PM yet?
  11. I love Texas! Lived in San Antonio for a year, but never made it to Austin. That was my one goal I wanted to accomplish while I was there, but somehow never ventured that way.
  12. Caribou, ME (1) Original Home of ATX (2) One of the biggest producers for Potatoes & Broccoli (3) The Caribou Public Library is a Carnegie library, which was built on a grant from Andrew Carnegie. (4) The band PHISH had a following of more than 70,000 fans when they performed one of their last ever shows right outside of Caribou. I would have had 5, but Kerry stole my #1 thought - "Home of Kyle Thibodeau and Kerry Crandall."
  13. 52 Sweden St. Caribou, ME 04736 Sorry Ray, I beat you to it. I will gladly send you whatever is left.. if any.
  14. When I go with the harder stuff, I tend to lean towards Southern Comfort or a little Jack Daniels. Nothing beats an old glass of whiskey!
  15. I'm new to this discussion, but did know that Mel was on his way to creating new tax software. Was that the actual name he was going to call it? And, are there archived posts where this topic has been discussed?
  16. I've never heard of either of those two beers. I don't drink often, but beer is my favorite of all when I do. Will have to keep my eyes out for those and give 'em a try sometime.
  17. That's like my friends doberman - It's almost as big as I am - And when it gets ahold of anything food related, you only get the sense of it being there at one time. It's completely gone in 2 gulps.
  18. Does anyone know of a tax related site out there that has everything tax? Like an encyclopedia of tax rules, laws, regs, pubs, advice, etc etc etc and so on? And if there is, is it user friendly and easy to find anything you're looking for?
  19. I've caught my cat doing that a few times too!
  20. I'm glad to hear that Tom got you squared away. I really do enjoy being able to get the help needed to you, and all of you for that matter. It makes me feel warm even with all the cold weather we've been having. Yes. I know - that was corny, but you know what I mean.
  21. I don't see why they can't just link to the IRS database which has all the EFIN's, so that way when the EFIN is entered in, it will automatically be checked with the IRS system and shown as correct or incorrect. At that point you could just e-file, or change accordingly and then send. Would be a great way to cut down on the people calling in for this error and would relieve alot of headaches most of you experience. It really doesn't seem it would take all that much effort to create the code for that. You guys should put that in as a suggestion and maybe they'll implement it for next year.
  22. are you guys poking yourself in the eye? if so, I am unable to say "Me Four."
  23. You need to try some of the thick ales like Killian's or especially Sam Adams. Those are some good ones too!
  24. I'd only listen to the auto mechanic if he had heard it from his mother-in-law. Other than that, it's probably not true..
