  1. If not the houses, then something else. That's just how it is. You get a cut/break somewhere such as in the real estate market, next thing you know gas rises an extra $100 a gallon. Gas goes down and food skyrockets, etc. etc. America the Beautiful.
  2. In my own defense, I'd like to add that my girlfriend bought this t-shirt for me and I think it brings out my eyes!
  3. Do you think maybe there were spaces after the last number? Or a space in front? Tax Software programs are weird like that, everything has to be perfect or it will not work perfectly. Other than that I would have no idea why the ID's do not rollover.
  4. While we're on the subject of TRX I'm very curious as to how TRX truly operates. It's so hard to find information on them and most of what I did, I don't know how reliable it is. So, you pay a membership fee of ?? and get the software free? Or, do you pay the membership and get software at a discounted price? Do you get to choose the software you want? Can anybody help me out with this subject?
  5. @JRS - rchinchilla has been a hard guy to get ahold of. I tried calling him the middle of last month and he could barely talk. Sounded like he was running a marathon. He is also a preparer and helps run lots of offices here on the East Coast. I don't know why he hasn't been on here though. @BulldogTom - Still talking about the princess picture I see.. Well, I've got great news for you! We captured another moment in our princess' life the other day. She/He had another bout of the 'wanting to be a princess' blues and took it to heart. I'm waiting for Jo-Anne to email me the picture so I can post it on here. Expect that soon! You'll all get a chuckle or two.
  6. Here in Maine, we don't go by the '6 more months' rule. Doesn't matter, we'll still be seeing snow up through June.
  7. Snow cream? Is that the same thing as ice cream just made from good 'ole snow? I've just never heard it called snow cream, but if that's what it is, I know what you mean! I'm 27 and I'd get excited as @#$% if I could get a big bowl of home-made ice cream! We made it a few times back in Chemistry class and I remember the days as if they were yesterday..
  8. Thanks TAXBILLY for the link! Well, Form 8606 was posted on 01/07/09 so I'm assuming it's approved/changed via IRS. Software vendors should have had that completed by now. It seems to me that ATX is usually right on top of those things and has the forms ready to go within hours/couple days of IRS release. I don't see it taking them almost a month to correspond any changes with it.
  9. I'm sorry, but I just came across this post again today. Are you still receiving this error message or did it get taken care of?
  10. 99% of the time, as it was a piggy backed state, it will come back rejected if the Fed was originally rejected. It may take a while for the CA ack to come through. A lot of people have been complaining about it taking longer than usual to hear a response. Once the rejection comes through, just e-file the CA state alone. Should be all set after that.
  11. I know in most browsers, somewhere under the "View" tab on your toolbar, you have some options to change font size.
  12. Has the IRS released the form yet? I can't even find it on the IRS website. &*@$%!, it's so hard to find anything on that site!
  13. You can tell tax season is picking up. Today alone, there have been 2 new members! I would like to add that this is one of the best forums I've been a part of. I'd like to thank everyone for that - making it lively, keeping the discussions exciting, new threads by the minute and overall good people. Let's spread the word that this is the community you want to be a part of, no matter software prejudice - whether you use ATX, Drake, ProSeries, TaxSlayer, etc. etc. This is where it's at!
  14. IMO, I don't think CCH owns TRX. I could be wrong though. I tried googling that information last week and all I could find was this. TRX is a community of tax preparers who pay a membership fee to get tax software for free or at discount prices. TRX just happened to be selling software that was bought out by CCH. This is not to say that they don't have their hands into TRX, but I couldn't find anything factual on the topic. I do see where you are coming from though, GeorgeM.
  15. They do and it is: http://community.trxpro.com
  16. The people that do call in and ask those silly questions - do you find that they are the younger crowd? Aged 18-30? Single parents and/or both parents receiving support from the state? A group that is collecting unemployment, etc?
  17. Must have been a good one! Client paid it..
  18. Very serious! The latest commercials for TurboTax have the forefathers talking up the product and that the product could help them get a 'bigger' refund. I've seen at least 2 different ones with them in it. It's absolutely absurd and I laughed when I saw them. Then I got mad. Then I got disgusted. Then I started posting about it to vent. It's just foreign to me how one could have thought that marketing plan up with out knowing the full details of the constitution. Plus all the things you (KC) mentioned, then adding in the fact that income taxes weren't even approved until 1913!
  19. Good luck with that. I'm not being a smart alack, but I remember seeing somewhere they have a 48 hour (or something to that effect) return policy. Maybe this would be a different case, because of what you found out. Let us know how it turns out.
  20. I've never dealt with this particular issue, but every other had similar outcomes. You could explain the pros & cons until you are blue in the face, but most people will do what they want to do anyway. Once they have a decision in their mind, it's hard to sway either way. I do agree with jainen though - just tell them how it is and wait for them to tell you how they want to proceed. Give advice where you deem necessary.
  21. What are the dates for the garage sale event? Does this take place all summer, or is it like a 3 day event? I'm just really curious and would like to find out more on this if possible. Thanks TaxMannEA!
  22. I have no clue where to begin as I am not very savvy with the technical side of things. However, we do have a little policy here that's called "One Free Tech Issue." Now if you are considering signing up for our services, but are unsure of our capability and you are experiencing an issue at this current time, we will help you with that one issue. Once that issue is resolved, it gives you an idea on how we operate and just how experienced we are. We have helped a few of the users on this board in exactly the same way. After we corrected their issue, they signed up. So, in no way do you have to do this, but if you wanted, I could help you out in the same manner. Then not only would you have been helped with this one issue, but you would still have a full year of this same assistance.
  23. I agree with KC. You see it all the time, not only in misreporting taxes or not reporting them all. It seems as if most politicians and government officials feel they are better than everyone else/above the law. Since they write the laws and help pass them, they have a free pass to ignore one or two every once in a while. And it won't change, it can't change. The nonsense in Washington is too far gone, it's too deep, it's in too many factions of government to just stop. Even if it did, it would probably topple the economy and a true American crisis would develop. Thinking back to TurboTax commercials and the forefathers promoting the brand - imagine if they were still alive today. They wouldn't even recognize the constitution, I bet. What would they think? The way it should have been is not the way it has developed over time. They didn't look at the constitution as a whole, they looked out for #1 and now it's so diluted it can never get back to the way it was.
