  2. So To address his question, when I install ATX on my new Server on Wednesday. I have to go to each workstation and post the changes to preferences? I can not just do that at the server terminal? Do I have to recreate my customized client letter at each terminal? ??? Rich

  3. I think they are talking about preferences like default state, print pages, cell colors.....etc. (open returns, manager settings, form displays)

  5. Do everyone a favor and jump ship totally. ATX is not suitable to your personality. This post affirms it.

  6. I have a doctor with a W-2 for about $3,000,000 and that's it. Sch A for his co-op and mtge and charity. His fee is the same as for a student that has just a W-2 and maybe itemizes. I don't charge more just for high income but on the other side of this, a low income business or one that shows a lose is going to pay the same as a profitable one since the forms and schedules are the same; just with smaller numbers.

  7. PLEASE, would those of you who use other programs please stop the posts just bashing ATX? It has gotten really irritating and serves no useful purpose. Brag all you want about your wonderful choice, but if you are not using ATX, you don't need to slam it.

  8. I don't understand when it became possible for us to ignore an IRS ruling just because we don't like it. EITC aside, There are many IRS rulings that we don't like, disagree with and/or resent. However, our obligation is to prepare tax returns in accordance with the law; practice due diligence and do the best job that we possibly can for each and every client, within the guidelines of the IRS. If I know and believe that a client is entitled to EITC, I will prepare their returns too. I don't think it is part of our jobs to judge or envy anyone. Some might make much more money than I do, but a whole lot of them make less and deserve the same consideration in the preparation of their tax returns as the wealthy do when we try to find every deduction, etc that we can to lower their tax liability. IMO, every client's return is just as important as my own and will be prepared accordingly. Wishing all of you a very prosperous and happy New Year.

  9. Had Drake convert from our ATX, 95% of the returns are wrong. Schedules A, C and D are incorrect. 700 returns, their people want to review them one return at a time. Update: Drake VP told me on phone today that they do not try to carry over all prior year amounts from ATX. Hence a Drake 2012 return will not look like the ATX 2012 return that the Drake return was generated from.
