  1. I am special too. Renewed 3 days ago. But then, I got my PTIN when it was first implemented to protect the tax preparer from identity theft (we used to have to put our SSN on the bottom of the tax return). Somehow, a program designed to protect tax preparers SSN has become a tool of discipline for the IRS, since they can take it from you and along with the number, your ability to practice tax preparation. You cannot efile without a PTIN, and efile is a requirement to practice. OK, rant over. Tom Modesto, CA

  2. After rebooting, try turning off your firewall and your antivirus program. See if that makes a difference. If it does you can exclude all ATX files from the scrutiny of your firewall and your antivirus [program. This has been a problem that has popped up from time to time over the last 6 years.

  3. Also, and you may have already done this, but I would completely close of ATX even rebooting the computer, then open and see if it appears.

  5. I love all of you too! I always thought of this forum as a round table where love and trust always prevails, that's why I felt confident in relating the story, and the fact that Laura doesn't know my password.

  6. I avoid bonus for that very reason. It cuts down on state differences.

  7. Why wouldn't they? They probably already have you name, address, SSN , DOB and Drivers License info from the Equifax hack last year !

  8. They absolutely do. I have had problem after problem with my major credit cards, store credit cards, and people submitting applications for credit in my name, SSN, etc., with an address in Florida. It has been the 'account security question' and companies phoning my land line number (yes, I still have one) that has saved me so far. Eeegads.
