  2. Yesterday, I received an IRS audit report that was mailed, first class, on June 6 from zip code 94903 to 95747, both in CA. It had a Japanese meter stamp from Hayama, Japan, 670 yen, dated June 29. Handwritten below the address window was "USA". It also had a blue "Air Mail" stamped on the envelope. I assume that was applied here. This is the second time something like this has happened. Last year, it was a client's large envelope that went the same route. There may be a problem with the bar code strip, or the code reader. Those strips are applied by the sender (IRS).

  3. All states have "escheat" laws, primarily directing the dormant funds not accessed for years be given to the state. I hope your client can recover thru the Unclaimed Property vehicle, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

  5. Decades ago after 4 years in the Army, I worked at the Eugene Postal Sectional Processing Center for several years before I decided to go back to college. Even back then in the 1970s theft by postal employees was a problem. Employee theft has been one of the primary focus of Postal Inspectors for a long long time.

  6. off topic a little bit - frustrating as all get out... My brother has custody of his granddaughter. She is the cutest thing. My wife made a dress and a skirt/top for her 2 weeks ago and shipped USPS box. Was supposed to arrive on Monday. Got there on Thursday minus the skirt/top. Why would someone do that? Tom Longview, TX

  7. I think I'd just leave the Sch E if there are operating expense carryovers or passive loss carryovers. There's no downside to leaving the E.

  8. If you delete the Sch E input and keep only the fixed asset as unassigned, be sure to also keep track of any carryover amount of operating expenses that were disallowed due to personal use/income limitation that would be carrying forward.

  12. You can use the following private delivery services for filing tax returns and mailing payments to the IRS: Important Note: The delivery addresses are different. The attached link has a link to those addresses. https://www.irs.gov/filing/private-delivery-services-pds

  13. I have noticed that a number of stamped letters and large envelopes are being processed by the Postal Service without a postmark. One of my business clients and I mail documents and reports back and forth every month. Several times we have reused a large envelope 3 or 4 times before the stamps were cancelled with a postmark
