  2. Actually, I used Firefox for many years before I had repeated issues with Firefox and switched over to Chrome. I don't like switching back and forth between browsers.

  4. Good article: "Don’t start construction on preparing the house for your personal use right after acquiring it" "The principal question is your intent when you acquired the replacement property. If you sincerely intended to treat it as investment property and not to move into it at the first opportunity, then you are on the right track. How can you prove that intent? If you can’t meet the safe harbor test discussed below, the best way is to actually use the property for investment purposes for a significant period of time after its acquisition. If you rent the house out at fair market value for at least a year (according to some commentators), then you likely have shown you acquired the property with investment intent. If you merely put up a good show, on the other hand, such as listing it for rent at an amount that is significantly higher than market, or not even listing it at all, the IRS will see right through that" Sometimes it's amazing how hard it is protect clients from themselves.
  5. I still use CCleaner several times a week and I haven't noticed any sign in problems with Chrome, probably because I am only using Chrome associated apps.
  6. "Microsoft has decided to block the popular third-party app EdgeDeflector on Windows 11. The app helps users open links on browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. With the new move, Microsoft will now force Windows 11 users to open URLs from Start menu and Widgets panel search results only on Edge browser. EdgeDeflector developer Daniel Aleksandersen criticised the blocking by saying the company appears to be prioritising “advertisement, bundleware, and service subscriptions” over user' productivity, as per a blog post"
  7. I don't do it every day, perhaps 2 or 3 times a week.

  9. I have had sites where clearing my browser history solved any issues.
  10. Perhaps this online class sponsored by CPA Practice Advisor will show me how to get my clients to fill out their Tax Organizers. This started off my day with a good belly laugh "How can you better automate client interactions? Find out tomorrow"
  11. Today Microsoft released 67 different security fixes. Does this mean Microsoft makes bad software or does this mean that hackers are really aggressive right now? What's the alternative to using Windows?
  12. For years I used Firefox, now I find it more convenient to use Chrome , even though I know they are tracking everything. Unless you are going to use a combination something like Brave and Duck Duck Go, but then that won't work for everything.
  13. Another unscheduled Chrome update needed to address an extremely serious security risk. In the last month Google has announced almost 40 different active security exploits "Chrome is up to date Version 96.0.4664.110 (Official Build) (64-bit)"
  14. So you can fill in blank spaces, but you can't change fields that already have characters?
  15. Perhaps you misunderstood. I went to the Foxit website and it is very clear that the free Foxit Reader does not do editing.. The Foxit Editor is $ 159.
  16. Is the Foxit Reader a downloadable program or is it web based?
  17. I can't wait to submit a picture of my Driver's License and a selfie to a third party in order to prove who I am to the IRS. Next they will want a saliva swab to confirm my DNA is an exact match
  18. You do have one other option, you can do a wire transfer.
  19. It turns out you can't fill any blank fields, which Adobe considers "editing." You're immediately prompted to sign up for their free 7 day trial which requires your credit card number. Perhaps it's not a "bait and switch", but it's definitely misleading! I have removed the extension because my biggest need is to be able to fill out pdf forms which aren't designed to be "fillable."
  20. Copied from Accounting Today: "Advance Child Tax Credit payment “This is the biggest concern coming to the end of the year,” mentioned Mankowski. “There will need to be a reconciliation on Form 1040 similar to what was done for the stimulus payments. There might be a bit of a learning curve involved, but once a preparer gets through the first several returns it won’t be a significant issue.” “But for many taxpayers, the advance payments will cause them to receive lower or no refunds, and there may be some surprises for those that end up owing money,” he added. “Over the years they’ve seen smaller refunds as a result of the new Form W-4, which was intended to get taxpayers closer to a breakeven point so they would have a little extra money in their pockets to spend during the year. Now with the ACTC, many will get less back, or will owe.” If a taxpayer received payments for two children based on the 2020 return and they don’t claim both children in 2021, they would need to repay the excess on their return, unless protected under the law, he explained. Safe harbor protection only pertains to qualifying children and is based on adjusted gross income. Schedule 8812 (Form 1040) has been reformatted to account for these payments. “The IRS will send out Letter 6419, an end-of-year statement that outlines the payments received as well as qualifying children. It’s scheduled to be mailed in January,” he added. The ACTC was not subject to offset, Mankowski observed: “It’s possible that one taxpayer could receive the ACTC based on their 2020 return and have repayment that was covered under the safe harbor, while the other taxpayer, who can legitimately claim the child, can also get the credit on their 2021 tax return, so there’s the potential for the CTC to be received by both parents."
  21. "In early 2022, the IRS will send Letter 6475 that contains the total amount of the third Economic Impact Payment and any Plus-Up Payments received. People should keep this and any other IRS letters about their stimulus payments with other tax records. Individuals can also log in to their IRS.gov Online Account to securely access their Economic Impact Payment amount."
  22. "In January 2022, the IRS will send Letter 6419 with the total amount of advance Child Tax Credit payments taxpayers received in 2021. People should keep this and any other IRS letters about advance Child Tax Credit payments with their tax record."
  23. Another unscheduled Chrome update needed to address 20 active security hacks: "Chrome is up to date Version 96.0.4664.93 (Official Build) (64-bit)"
  24. Yeah, I saw that article. Choosing which hardware, software and online services to use is a real balancing act. There are a lot of pros and cons everywhere you look.
  25. Customer support for many services and companies is definitely getting worse for many different reasons. Customer support at the payroll software company that I have been using for the last 9 years has become unreachable. Fortunately, after January, I will no longer need their services.
