  1. On the 1099-R input form, there is a box under 2a(taxable amount) for rollover amount. On the tabs at the bottom, there is Rollover explanation if you need it. Maybe that is what you need.
  2. Yes,that's correct,if that's the only earned income he has.
  3. Can someone give me a hint to point me in the right direction, please? I have read pub550,checked in TAXBOOK and Kleinrock Quick answers but still not sure.I hope my question was clear.I am blurry around the edges. Thanks for any input.
  4. A new client came in today who sold investment real estate in 2007 which he purchased in 2001. There were back taxes owed on this property which he paid off over several years, but never claimed on schedule A. Can these taxes be added to basis now, even though paid in previous years? He got two different answers before coming to me,so I want to be sure. The taxes paid are quite substantial and will cause a loss on Schedule D. I appreciate any help at this busy time. Thank you Sunday
  5. The "SENIOR Center" must be a busy place today! I just had two clients come in and insisted that IRS just changed the requirements for Stimulus payments to include SSI benefits as well as social security benefits. I checked the IRS website while they were here, NO change.I got the feeling they STILL didn't believe me. sunday
  6. I do several returns with SS income plus low earned income. Your two clients would qualify according to the info you provided. Sunday
  7. I sent 25.00 at two different times,so far, but I would send more if needed ,later in season. This board and the people on it,are invaluable. Thank to all of you.
  8. Mel Please add me to your list of interested small investors. I have used Saber and Atx for many years since it was perfect for my needs as a solo practitioner who specializes in Individual and Sole proprietor Returns. I really admire your enthusiasm and your commitment to such an ambitious endeavor. Good Luck!
  9. Eli Make sure there is no blank line above your entry. That happened to me and it worked fine after I deleted that .

    Sch EIC

Yes , I did ,but after re-downloading, the thing actually worked.. Thank you...This forum is so important and we all appreciate the help we receive. I fear there will be very little from tech support , after spending one hour on hold today , for another matter.

Yes, I am getting the same message. I have been on hold 40 minutes now, trying to reach tech support. I think this is going to be a long, bumpy ride this year.

    Sch EIC

Beth, I do show ver.22 on EIC form ,but I still cannot create e-file . The message displayed is "form not approved for E-file" Should I re-download Sch EIC once again? thank you
  13. I highlighted and retyped name, then tried it without middle initial but there it sits..on top of the pile Then I duplicated the return and opened it to rename it. That one went to it's proper place. I can now delete the original, stubborn file! Thank you all for helping me THINK! Sometimes old brains need a little stimulation.:)
  14. I did try that, but it changes the entire column order from top to bottom, while my errant file remains out of order thank you, taxbilly
  15. All clients are listed correctly in Alphabetical order except One, with last name beginning with "Z" When I rolled it over,it ended up at the top instead of the bottom of the listings. This is probably simple, but I never noticed it until I was finished with the return . Is there a safe way to move it? I can't seem to find the "magic button" Thanks for any suggestions sunday
  16. KC My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your husband. With so many of us praying for you,God will surely hear us. Sunday

  18. I have a high volume of clients that file EIC forms and would like to add that ATX is extremely reliable in handling the calculations , if the questions are answered carefully. Through the swirl of complicated changes made over the years,ATX has performed remarkably well in keeping the results accurate. sunday
  19. erc, Thanks for a great site that is so simple! Much better than the "official" forum I may not go with ATX but hope ALL will be welcome here. Sunday Pavlock

    TaxAct

Marge, I am leaning towards Orrtax also. They are sending Demo and price lists and I am confident my decision to leave Atx is the right choice. I have been with Atx since Parsons sold, but I have lost faith in the company . I'm not familiar with Tax Refund Express. Is that separate and apart from Orrax ? Thanks for the information. Sunday
