  1. That looks really good, if you just need a fax service. It's more money if you need both fax and voice message service.
  2. The thing about electronic faxes is you learn to hate clients who fax things so they show up on your screen upside down! Fortunately, my new pdf software (Nuance Power PDF Standard) allows me to rotate all the pages of the pdf at once.
  3. We've never had a local number. Calls are forwarded to our assigned fax number, so it does cost me a few cents of long distance for each fax, but I only pay $70/yr for the Lite Non-local service. But I think I'm grandfathered in because, the new lowest cost plan is $7/mo, if you pay annually. I get 500 pages per mo, that rollover and I've accumulated over 35,000 pages. We get our voice messages thru them too, but they don't mention that on their site. We also get 1 year storage on our faxes and messages.
  4. Their sites says $25/mo/user. That would cost me at least $1,500/yr! It looks nice though.
  5. We never rarely print our faxes.
  6. Yeah, we're finally starting to not get raped on our cellphone bills. Personally, I credit the providers offering more sane plans now, including Google Fi. Verizon revamped their plans several months after Google Fi went live.
  7. This is why I use a fax service and get my faxes as PDFs. I can delete, rotate, rearrange and save just what I need. We use MaxEmail, in case you're interested.
  8. Saw that yesterday. Seems like they're still down. Not getting any Acks.
  9. I didn't know you could create your own variables. I'm guessing that is not a feature yet.
  10. Ha ha! Just trying to help ordinary folks understand taxes better, and calming their IRS fears. All of the mods are EAs or CPAs. One guy is a tax lawyer. One helpful fellow who answers questions is an IRS agent. I've learned a lot moderating that site. Sometimes, really good questions are asked.
  11. Yeah, but then you need a color printer!
  12. I use variables all the time. You just drag them from the list on the right and drop them where you want them in the letter.
  13. If some part of the organizing was related to tax record keeping, that portion might be a 2% misc itemized deduction, which probably won't save any taxes anyway.
  14. The invitations come within a few days now. I paid a $100 early termination fee because I would save $50/month, so it was cheaper to switch. I was already with a reseller using the Sprint network, so my coverage improved by adding a second carrier. Plus I can now use my cellphone at home. Never had much carrier signal at home. Even Verizon was spotty.
  15. I'm gonna leave that typo.
  16. We've been effing for at least a week with no issues.
  17. Project Fi is a Google cellphone service that's very reasonable if you don't use too much cellphone data. It's $20/mo for unlimited calls & texts, plus $10/GB of cellphone data. The data plan is also prorated so if you use less than 1GB you get a credit. If you use more than 1GB, you pay for what you use. So, 1.1 GB would cost you $11. Google Fi uses wifi connections for calls and texts if you're connected to wifi, which I am at home and work. So you don't have to worry about a poor cellphone connection. When you are not on wifi, it chooses between Sprint and T-mobile. Also, international plans are included at reasonable rates. I've been to Canada twice and used my phone for a week for only about $7 extra. Nexus 6 is a Motorola cellphone.
  18. Yes I was an early adopter of Project Fi, July 2015. And I have the Nexus 6, which I love.
  19. Don't lie to the tax alien! He can read your thoughts!
  20. You are correct! It is the Alien's antenna. I guess along the lines of Ray Walston in My Favorite Martian... except with one antenna instead of two.
  21. I'm one of the moderators at /r/tax over at reddit, and I recently recreated a new avatar for our sub. It's a 3 piece suit wearing, bow tied, bespectacled, coffee mug holding, laptop carrying, disheveled haired reddit alien (or snoo, as it's known). I know it looks more Big 4 than most of us, but I think it turned out nicely.
  22. I hear ya, sister! Letters take way too much time and my edits never stay. I export the templates and copy/paste the letters into rtf files in my documents so I can import or copy/paste to fix the letters. Though most of the time I just edit/save the letters. I like the small margins because I like a letter with estimates and one state to fit on one page. My letters only go to two pages if there is more than one state and there are balances due and estimates. I don't care if my signature block ends up on page 2. But I agree that 10pt is too small. I use 12 pt Book Antigua. CLIENTTEST.pdf
  23. Ok, you started it! Granddude pics for your viewing pleasure. 3 of the current 4 with one on the way in July.
  24. Damn, it's going to be Woodstock all over again in Rock n' Roll Heaven.
  25. It varies but I stood most of the morning this morning. I usually try to stand at least 1 hour in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening.
