  1. Yes, that's a good program. I just prefer a hands-on approach, but if this assault keeps up, I may just install that.
  2. They only appear if you have both SE health insurance and premium tax credit. They show after the Ln 29 tab on the 1040.
  3. There's a closed group we all could join. It's not very active but I'm sure we could liven it up! https://www.facebook.com/groups/827167400659499/
  4. Are you running Server 2008? We're just a Mickey Mouse peer-to-peer and haven't had this issue (yet).
  5. My 2015 fillable blank organizer with page numbers is attached. The software that makes it fillable did a poor job on both the Dependents page and the Noncash Charitable page, but overall it's pretty good. If you don't like my cover letter, delete it. Feel free to email this to new clients. 2015 Blank Organizer.pdf
  6. We say we have a $250 minimum, but a client with one W2, standard deduction, no child care, health insurance all year, no IRA, no HSA, etc., etc. would probably be $125-$150.
  7. http://www.infoworld.com/article/2945412/microsoft-windows/windows-nagware-patches-kb-2952664-and-2976978-install-repeatedly.html
  8. You are correct JMovich. Procrastination pays off sometimes.
  9. Correct link: https://www.refundschedule.com/2016-irs-e-file-chart/
  10. I wonder if, now that we're expensing 2,500 tangible assets, it follows that we would also expense intangible assets. If you don't expense it, it's 15 years of amortization.
  11. We don't use that many toner cartridges anymore but these are really good prices!
  12. Are they telling you that there are separate updates for standalone installs and network installs? I don't think that's right.
  13. I watched a couple videos on David Bowie Saturday night and was saying that I need to add more Bowie songs to my playlists. Bowie always did his own thing and it was usually brilliant. RIP. Asanti!
  14. I don't think they worry about 1098Ts with 30k billed, because they know the education credits/deductions have such low limits. They probably assume, like I do, that the taxpayer definitely paid at least 4K, unless it was all paid with scholarships. It's the 1098Ts with 5K in tuition that may be claiming too much credit/deduction.
  15. In 14 & 15 they moved the location of the admin console program to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CCH Small Firm Services\ATX 2015 Admin Console\Sfs.ServerHost.AdminConsole.exe" If you can't find it on your menu.
  16. Export the letters from 2014 and import them into 2015. I haven't found a way to get all the states letters out of 2014 yet, but I did get my main state letters.
  17. I read in Journal of Accountancy that colleges will be require to complete the tuition paid box on the 1098-T starting in 2016.
  18. Somewhere I heard another fake name for a law firm: Poore, Lee & Dowd.
  19. No for the losses inside the corporation, but the loans and unreimbursed expenses are all capital losses on the 1040.
  20. Indeed. First time I ever posted about this annoyance, some users defended the warning. I couldn't believe it.
  21. Other Notable Enhancements The save warning on extensions has been disabled by default and you will no longer be prompted to confirm changes if those e-files are only Extensions.
  22. Sounds like it's time to bring back EAR (Electronic Account Resolution)! It was part of eServices but most of my colleagues (ahem) didn't use it so they dropped it. It was so sweet to email the IRS and get a reply sometimes within hours.
  23. You can also change the brightness and contrast on your monitor to make the whites whiter.
  24. Firefox has a Reader View function built in. The icon looks like an open book. If you're on a page that it will work on, the icon will show in your URL bar (where the website address is). Also in Firefox, under Options, Content, Advanced, you can uncheck the box to allow pages to use their own fonts. Then pick whatever font and size you find easiest on the eyes.
  25. Well, at least adding page numbers was quick and easy. Selected all organizer pdfs in Nuance Power PDF, and used the scheme I had set up earlier this year, clicked ok and off it went! Boom. Making them fillable and adding a password has to be done one organizer at a time, but that's what office help are for. It took my employee about 8 hours to add organizer letters and print organizers to pdf for about 300 clients. Thanks for the bug, ATX! And it will likely take another 8 hours to make them fillable and password protected. Thankfully I have employees who don't mind a repetitive task.
