  1. Between the huge graphics and white space and the pinned posts, I have to scroll down just to see new posts. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems, but still.
  2. Just had to change my password and got an error message. Now I'm locked out for 60 minutes.
  3. Unused business use of home expenses are lost, except for mortgage interest and real estate taxes which are always allowed.
  4. My door is glass so I had one installed thru the wall. Yes, that's a metal trash can to catch the records.
  5. Here's the download link for version 1.0. Do not upgrade to the newer versions because it chooses too small of a font for some of the organizer input boxes. This is unfortunately a large download because it contains all languages.
  6. I've never tried overriding a state when I need it to be MFS while the federal is Joint. I've always just made a copy of the client to do just the state. It would be a great enhancement if ATX could handle MFS for states on a joint return.
  7. Wow, that's insane. No wonder they want to audit it. Jeez, I just went back and looked at the original audit letter and they HAD ask for all Sch C expenses but I didn't notice that check mark. We sent then NOTHING for from page expenses except travel and meals and they didn't say a word. They must be so swamped right now that they triage audit responses and if their gut tells them they can't get any money, they just close the audit. Wow.
  8. It's actually called 'business use of home', not home office, so I don't see any problems.
  9. I had a Sch C audit this year and the IRS wanted travel and meals from page 1 of Sch C, and everything under Other on page 2. Made me think of ways to fit expenses on page 1 of the return. The kicker? They didn't ask about mileage, at all.
  10. Keep your conspiracy theories out of our tax forum, Jack.
  11. Also, it's limit at the entity level, so the partnership would need to show a profit to begin with. On another note, what happened to the assets? Were they junked, sold or distributed to the partners?
  12. That link will probably open in view mode. The file is attached to this message. 2014 Blank Organizer-Fillable.pdf
  13. Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Here's the file processed by Nuance.

  15. Don't leave it as is. Transfer it ASAP. File gift tax return for 75k (or whatever) this year and be done with it. Start the clock running.
  16. I want to encourage my clients to call me before they do something stupid, so it's well known that I don't charge for 5 minute calls. Sometimes it becomes a billable meeting or research. Sometimes I just charge them more for their taxes.
  17. I don't want to send a doc. Not everyone can open a doc. Besides a fillable PDF is much friendlier and easier to use. One of the features is converting a pdf to a doc or an xls, and I'm sure that will come in handy for other things. Just not for organizers.
  18. Thanks! I, um, happen to be a moderator of that subreddit, under my alter ego, quakerorts.
  19. That's what I'm doing this year, fillable pdf.
  20. I don't think that's aggressive at all. Deduct it.
  21. You can post this in the \r\tax forum on reddit. There are a lot of helpful people there including at least one suspected IRS employee.
