  1. My meeting was doing it by hand before I took over. Put it on QuickBooks and it worked like a charm for me. Yes, I did a Sales Receipt for every member for every donation. Quakers don't pass a collection plate so most members mail in a check quarterly, semiannually or annually so the volume was not that high.
  2. I think windows deleted a bunch of restore points. I only had one restore point left. :/ But my DataStore folder used to be close to 1 GB and now it's only 206 MB.
  3. My free space just got bigger... a lot bigger. I have not updated from 13.3.
  4. Was working on a return and apparently the "would you like to update" prompt came up just as I pressed Enter. I never even saw the prompt. I quickly closed the program, opened Task Manager and killed one ATX 2013 process, but not ATX 2013 Server. Is there any way to tell that nagging prompt to not pop up? I unchecked the box so it doesn't automatically update at start up. ATX really needs to make the nag prompt default to 'postpone'. It could have really screwed things up!
  5. I take off two nights a week. That's it.
  6. My free space actually increased from yesterday to today by about 20GB but I'm still 13.3. My Backup folder in ATX 2013 Server folder is just over 1GB. The DataStore folder is only 172MB and the Files folder is 740 MB. I have about 350 clients.
  7. I've got 3 open now and routinely have 2 open. Plus sometimes I have TaxWorks open at the same time.... but I have 16GB or RAM on a Win8.1 beast of a machine.
  8. I just use the Efile Manager. When return is done I create the efile. It sits there until it's transmitted. We also have a "piling" system where folder are not filed away until client has signed the efile forms and the return has been transmitted. Are you waiting to create the efile after the client signs the forms? That may more proper but I've been doing it this way since the 90s and not had a problem. With ATX, if I don't create the efile, the client letter defaults to mailing.

    13.4

But how is performance otherwise? Only thing I saw useful in release notes was importing K1 info.
  10. Paper file 1040 and attach 1099R so the IRS can see where the withholding is coming from.

    13.4

I'm not updating till I'm absolutely forced to or convinced that it won't waste my time.

    13.4

    And it's back! Maybe it's 13.4.1.

    13.4

They might have pulled 13.4. My icon is green this morning and I'm still on 13.3.
  14. If I get a client with a Mac running QuickBooks, I tell them to buy a PC or take a hike. When my ipod died I installed a free music player on my android instead of send Apple hundreds of my hard-earned $$$ for another ipod, and I not only like it better, it sounds better than my ipod ever did. I used to have 3 devices in my car: phone, gps and ipod. Now I just have one device that does all three and they're integrated so the music pauses when a call comes in.
  15. The Admin Console can (should) be found at: "C:Program Files (x86)CCH Small Firm ServicesATX2013Sfs.ServerHost.AdminConsole.exe"
  16. $40 for the first 2 and the 1096, $8 each additional if I'm doing them from scratch. If it's already in QuickBooks AND in good shape, $30/$6.
  17. Yes you can as long as you do it by the extended due date.

    Rant

I have toys for the kids to play with and I love it when they bring their dogs in. I sometimes have treats for them. As for cellphones, my clients often have to call for info, so it comes in handy. I suppose they could use my my office phone, but.... germs.
  19. Most likely. I had one like that last year and the guy didn't get his refund until November! IRS kept asking for copy of the W2.
  20. Can I add logins for this site for each of my employees? Thanks!
  21. You send out the W9 twice and file the 1099 with no ID#.
  22. If not in the program then by copy a file(s) to my workstations? I googled this and didn't come up with anything. Seems a shame to have to change them all on every workstation. I only have 4 workstations, but still... Thanks! Joe
  23. I like my data in a separate partition because it's easier to backup. In my case, Carbonite Pro won't let me backup the folders where ATX stores both the data and the backups. I'm just going to routinely copy the ATX file to my data partition where Carbonite will let me back them up. I'm switching to CrashPlan after tax season.
  24. New to ATX. Where is the data stored? I use Carbonite for backup and I like to backup the actual data files as well as the backups of the data files. But I cannot find it anywhere. Thanks! Joe
