    PTC 8962

Last year, client did not qualify for PTC but received the advance. Did not have to pay back the advance because of covid or whatever they said. This year, similar income, appears to qualify. Received advance and 8962 says he'll get more, much more, nearly all of the premium. I see on 2021 Form 8962 line 6 is blocked out, reserved for future use. 2020 Form 8962 line 6 has a question if over 400%, he does not qualify. Did I miss something, a change in this to allow more PTC?

    Form 8915

I've not had this problem. I had clients both ways and the rollover seems to be correct.
  3. I wonder if it is because the daughter manually filed her Dad's 2020 return and it's probably in the backed up unprocessd returns at IRS.
  4. Yes, thanks Abby. I didn't know that. Saves time calling ATX and all that.
  5. I got an efile rejection, account locked out because SSA says he is deceased. The return includes date of death and 'Deceased' on top of the return. I've done this in the past and the returns have been accepted. Anyone else receive this kind of rejection. Is it something new IRS is doing?
  6. Not sure what you're saying about the rollover. Are you saying if you have the new forms and the new year ATX program and the client's short year is for that year, then I agree. Since the last year filed would have been a full year (2020). I was thinking about if the 2021 year is a full year and you want to file a short year for 2022, then you would already have done the rollover in the 2021 software and the 2022 forms and software would not be available. Then you would have two returns in the same software year with the same tax id. This is when I think you would need to call ATX. Maybe the original poster was a situation where the rollover would work.
  7. I restarted my computer. Seems to have done the trick.
  8. Anyone else seeing slow transmitting from ATX? Several times today, I transmitted efiles and waited and waited until finally getting a message that I was timed out.
  9. It didn't automatically load in one of my SCorps. But when I hit the add forms button, I saw them available. My question is do you add them to your return even if they're not needed? And is there a question or tick box to check regarding international activity?
  10. I think you can efile the short form. If you use the same year software (previous calendar year), you'll have two returns in the same year. But if you call ATX (or your software company) and tell them about the short year, they can open a 'back door' so you can efile the return.

    Form 7203

I just did this for an S corp. Only one shareholder. The 7203 info was imported and I double checked it with the Basis Statement in the 1120S. I attached it as a pdf. Haven't efiled it yet. Working on the shareholder 1040 now. I don't know if this was from a recent ATX update or not.
  12. So far, none of my clients have moved from one state to the other. I'm in No. Ky near Cincinnati. I only have a few Ohio clients.
  13. And on the attachment, name it 'ACA Explanation'. That is if your situation pertains to this.
  14. The efile may clear ATX but not IRS.
  15. I didn't find much about a binary attachment. I guess it's all tech jargon. But I did find a fix. I first tried to include Form 8962 but it couldn't be included in an efile for MFS. So I used the Elections/Statements to make a statement. It was included in the return but I also printed it in pdf format and attached it to the return with the title ACA Explanation. Apparently it worked. The return was accepted by IRS. I just don't know which one of the two made it work. So if anyone else has this situation, I hope this helps.
  16. Married clients filed MFS. His return included Form 8962, was accepted. Her return did not include Form 8962, was rejected by IRS. Message reads The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing ACA Explanation must be present in the return. What is a binary attachment? I tried to load Form 8962 into her return and click on no PTC. But it will not allow the form.
  17. Anyone have any feedback if these larger refunds in these returns are being held back for review? Just wondering. I have a couple where one spouse will have to pay a higher amount while the 2nd spouse is due a refund. Normally the refund would come quickly and they could wait for the refund before paying the other.
  18. Thanks jklcpa. Yes, I've been working from a .qbb and using the correct QB function. The file is from a client. I upgrade QB every year and use my latest QB. I tried restoring his last year QB backup and it worked. So I guess something is wrong with his latest backup file. I will ask him to create a new backup and hopefully that will work.
  19. When I try to load a client QB file (.qbb) into my QB, it begins to update the company and stops at about 80%. I get this error code (0,-1). Anyone familiar with QB know anything about this. I've not had this problem with this or any other client.
  20. My ES check payments have cleared quickly.
  21. The AICPA and all 50 state CPA societies have formally requested the IRS postpone the schedule requirements another year. Hopefully IRS will do so and quickly.
  22. Has anyone encountered these schedules for 1065 & 1120S? I don't think they apply to any of my clients. But I was looking for them in a client return (1120S). They don't even seem to be available in ATX. Schedule K has line 14 but no link to anything.

    8915-F

The whole covid tax stuff was a mess. I thought this tax season might be better. But now I'm having to file some MFS and look for them more EIP3 and CTC.
