If a rental is converted to personal use, is it considered a complete disposition of rental activity releasing suspended rental losses? There is still another rental and this will create a large NOL.

There are several attorneys in my small building (converted house) and they do a lot of divorces. I hear them talk about QDROs all the time. I can't speak for the defined benefit pensions, but for defined contribution account transfers, you definitely want a QDRO and a direct transfer.

Would they get a 1099-DIV anyway? This may just be 'interest' and inside buildup in the policy and he is using his policy cash value to pay premiums. Unless he owns stock in the insurance company and received actual dividends, then he would get a 1099-DIV.

I haven't attached these in several years. I try to get the client to have broker send me a cvs file and import it to ATX. And it's been several years now since the brokers have been required to track and report basis to IRS. So you can just put in the totals on Sch D a lot of times.

This is what I do. I don't want any part of it otherwise. It's up to them to mail in their estimated payments. I give them a memo of the amounts but they determine how much they can actually pay at the time.

I still can't create the efile with 1040-ES in the return. Like I've been doing with Ky 740-ES, I print the vouchers, discard the form, then create the efile.

I wish they would at least allow the vouchers. The Ky 740-ES is available in the program but you can't create the efile with this in the return. I print the vouchers, then discard the form to create the efile. I don't use the worksheets to prepare an estimate. I use the planner, then give the client a memo I set up on Word. I then give the client the four vouchers. But I can't print Federal vouchers, not even from irs.gov.

I wanted to wait a couple of days before commenting. I have Norton. I set it to Quiet Mode when ATX is open. My understanding is that the anti-virus protection is still working in Quiet Mode, but some of the background processes are stopped and notifications are stopped. I haven't had any freeze ups the past two days so maybe that was the problem. I did have a closing while I was in a return trying to print a high number of forms checking them off. This return had a higher number of forms than the average return. The program closed, I couldn't re-open until I restarted the computer.

Just got a list of the extenders from ATX notifications. They are monitoring IRS for time table of these.

My last two desk tops (last one a recent purchase) have been HP. Also my laptop (over 4 years old) is an HP. No problem. I used to have a local tech guy build my desktops but no longer.

HP LaserJet P1606dn. Very low end but it works for me.

For my personal use, I just ignore the additional columns. If I want to show the client, I just print and cut off the additional columns.

I'm in Kentucky with Sch A itemized deductions. I've been telling clients who will probably not need to itemize for Federal in 2018 to continue to bring in their info. Any others in states who allow itemize deductions thinking about this?

Yes, I updated. Most of the time the program doesn't close, it just freezes. I went to ATX support, used the chat option. Was told to uninstall and reinstall, then load my backup file. But first set my security to not block anything ATX and see if that works. That was Wednesday. I decided to just restart my computer and everything worked well the rest of the day and Thursday. But today, I'm getting several freeze ups.

Are you still having this problem? It's happening with me now. Just started yesterday.
