  1. Client has a do it yourself account with a company called Oanda. He brought in a statement showing a summary of 254 trades, realized profit $298, realized loss $508, net realized loss $210. I asked for a 1099 and he says they don't issue 1099s. Anyone else see this come up? Should I ask client to get a .csv file of all his trades to import each trade?

No. I uninstalled the W7 update from this morning. It said something regarding platform. All is back to the way it was. I noticed my font in ATX was a little different too. Not sure what that update had in it. It was listed as recommended, not as important.

Thanks, Eric. I'm using IE9. I checked MS Word. Not showing bold. On this site, when I'm typing my post, it shows up in bold. But when I view the post, it comes back to me regular. On another tax forum, when I type, it shows in bold and when it comes back, it shows in bold, as well as others' post showing in bold. Someone on that forum said my post did not show up as bold to them. Some web pages show in bold (including my home page) and other web pages do not.

I see it came across normal. But when I'm typing, it's in bold. On another tax forum, it not only typed in bold, but came back to me in bold. My web pages are showing up in bold too.

Is this coming across bold? Suddenly I see everything in bold. Anyone know how to chane it? I tried to reset default fonts. Sheesh.
  6. grym2h, I use pdffactory too. But I don't have it in the Filing copy section of the print menu.

    Take notes

Whew. Jack I feel for you. Hope it all works out.
  8. I like a combination of BulldogTom and Joelgilb comments. Plus if Pacun is like me (I haven't had major issues either) and is on a stand alone one person machine, I suspect the major problems are with the network/server people. I think there were just too many shortcuts and as mentioned, probably budgetary constraints. This kind of thing comes from the top.
  9. It sounds very basic. I remember ATX was originally just filling in the forms. Each form would add the numbers but there was no carry forward from one form to another. I don't know if any of these basic startups can compete now that we're used to having more advanced software. If they can stay afloat long enough, they'll probably improve on it year by year. Then when they build up their client base, they'll sell to a bigger company, make a killing and retire to the Bahamas.
  10. I haven't had the major problems that some have had. Still there are a lot of little things, the genral slowness, especially. I'm slogging thru this season. Like you I haven't had any reason in the past to change. I'm a single person office, single desk top and a lower volume of returns. So going to the bigger high priced programs is really not an option for me. I suppose the future of ATX depends on how serious CCH is to keep it. If they deem it's not worth putting the resources (more programmers) to get it up to top notch, then they'll cut their costs and drop it. I'll see how they keep updating the program and how it continues to improve. One thing I'll probably do differently is NOT renew early and check out some of the other programs. After April 15, I may get another program and work on my extensions with both programs so I can have a better comparison. See how ATX improves.
  11. And they did it to me again, changed the address for Kentucky residents. Sheesh. Now again, I have a bunch of preprinted envelopes I can't use.
  12. Real finicky. I click, delay, think I need to click again, the first click checks in, then my second click checks in and undoes the first click. Say what. I'm getting jumpy with the mouse.
  13. The print menu has a lot of quirkiness. Still haven't figured it all out. Whew.
  14. With or without a new item, it should still show up on the form. And I wouldn't want to override if the actual info is in there and being calculated throughout the return.
  15. Suddenly one I was working on didn't do it. Voila. Still befuddled. Not sure if I did something different, didn't do something different.
  16. If I sign out and come back soon, I'm signed out and have to sign back in. But if I don't come back for a while, I'm already signed in. Strange. Just recently started happening.
  17. Eric, I sign out when leaving the forum, but when I return, I'm already signed in. I like to click on view new content, but I keep getting a long list of topics I've already reviewed. I've looked all around at settings but can't seem to find why I'm not staying signed out. I would like to sign in, and view only the topics since my last visit.
  18. Anyone else having this problem. With a 1220S return, when going to print menu, 4562 won't print. Depreciation schedules print. When leaving print menu, 4562 is blank. Actual info is there and included in the overall return calculations. Depreciation schedules are there and viewable with the info. If I close return and reopen, 4562 is back with the info. But when going back to print menu, same thing happens. I can print the 4562 with the info using the print page button (after I reopen return and before going into print menu). Doesn't happen in 1040 returns. Haven't tried 1065 yet. Will be trying that soon. I think there are several funky things happening with that print menu.
  19. I use Acrobat, send encrypted with a password. I don't send the password in the email but a hint as to what it is, something they would know. I'm not a techie, but I think Jack and Eric are both right.
  20. A funky thing I just encountered. 1120S 4562 page one has 179 item. Everything shows ok. But when I go to the print function, Form 4562 doesn't print. The depreciation schedules print with the correct 179 info. When I leave the print function, Form 4562 is blank. The 179 info is still there on Sch K and K-1, etc. When I close the return and open it, the info is back on the 4562. But it happens again when I go to print. I updated to 12.9 but that didn't correct it. Anyone else have this problem and a fix?
  21. I saw a quirk in the print report. I sorted incomplete returns by created date. The correct dates showed up on screen, but when I printed the report, all returns listed the same date, the first date listed. Maybe 12.9 will correct that. I'll try.
  22. On the print options tab under 4562 form, when I only had the regular depreciation tagged to print, I couldn't get them to print. But when I tagged the AMT and Next year, etc (all the items) to print, it did print. Not sure why it wouldn't print the other way. Not sure if that's the same as your problem.
  23. I've not had these problems either. Just seems slow opening returns and the minor stuff. I was wondering if those who installed early and on servers might be having continuing problems that the updates just didn't clear out, maybe the updates made things worse. I don't know the answer, just throwing something out. I have lower volume and a stand alone computer, W7, 16gb RAM.
  24. I may rethink prepaying. I may also rethink and try other demos after the season when they offer them free. I just don't know yet. I haven't had the problems others have had.
  25. Interesting comments Bulldog. I agree with your number 1. I don't think they planned to do away with ATX. But as you say, this may have consequences beyond their control. We'll see how it goes.
