  1. I just tried it and was able to open input tabs for both spouses and their daughter. My suggestion would be to remove the number 1 from the input tab for students. Close the return and reopen. I find this education input to be quite tedious this year, but not as bad as the OIH input screens. There should be an easier way, but I haven't found it yet.
  2. I haven't had that issue, but I always highlight the amount of refund or tax owed. That is all most of them look at.
  3. That is true, but the last I heard it still does not relieve you from the tax AND penalty. Hardship rules do not relieve the penalty.
  4. Go to Preferences, then Rollover Manager and check box your choices there.
  5. I agree that is is commuting. I have a client who is on the board of a Credit Union and has to attend meetings. He is not allowed to deduct the mileage, but he does get a 1099 for SE. He has another small business which is right at his homestead; berry farming. This home business does not qualify him to take mileage when he attends meetings as a Director because there is no connection between the two.
  6. It is most likely either the paper with all this static electricity or the printer rollers. Happens to all of us from time to time.
  7. These are really good questions, because if the son didn't graduate until June, 2013, he would qualify under the full-time student rules and be an eligible dependent. My Granddaughter graduated in June and turned 19 in October so was considered a full-time student for that year. I know this is grasping at straws, but we need to cover all of the possibilities.
  8. The son has too much income to be the father's dependent. Therefore, no EIC either. There always has to be a cutoff somewhere. I, personally, think that $3900 is way too low. Who can live for a year on that amount. I have had clients who have missed the dependent eligibility by $10 or $20. Being SE, has the dad paid in estimates?
  9. Years ago, I worked for a Realtor and Appraiser off-season, typing appraisals and general office work. He had that sign hanging in his office and I have looked for it ever since he retired. Thanks for finally bringing it out of hibernation and bringing back lots of memories. My boss is long gone, but at that time I worked for an Accountant on one side of the hall; when tax season was over, I walked across the hall and worked for the Realtor. Just a couple of the steps I took to get to where I am now.
  10. Jack., let us know if the pies are as awesome as the ones we saw. You are going to really like JB!
  11. Even worse is all of the "early birds" who are coming in with "I just got this in the mail!" Fortunately, most of us know who gets what and when and I have filed only the very simplest of returns.
  12. All quarterly and year end sales tax returns done as well.
  13. My IT person has always cautioned me to NEVER let my computer go to sleep. He always says if you have a laptop, work with it plugged in as much as possible and shut off the sleep mode and avoid hibernation as much as you can. Causes all sorts of problems.
  14. Have not had that issue. Perhaps someone else can jump in here.
  15. Likewise, congratulations. I love popcorn, but you can forget the balloons. So many of us have been here for so long. Will be thinking of both of you as I shut down for the night.
  16. Form 2106 Line 4 has a worksheet for Home used for Business; All of the expenses will then flow to Line 21 of Schedule A.
  17. I have two in the basement, one for each of my sons. Am sure they must need some fine tuning. Am sorry to hear that you shot at cats. Sure hope your aim was bad!
  18. I have an Acer Iconia Android tablet and I like it so much that I just bought another on on Ebay in case mine fails. It is awesome for traveling. I also have the advantage of connecting to AT&T if there is no WiFi around. It has a USB port, an AMDI port and a place for a mini memory card, which is where all of my pictures go. As I said before, with SIMM card for ATT, I have everything I need in a "TOY". Oh, is also a camera so all pictures go to 16G memory card. I don't read books on it, but download music and I can take my Pinterest and ATX board anywhere I go; not to mention E-mail and/or anything else on the web. I am a pretty avid reader, but when I read, I want paper in my hands. On the couch, on the porch, in the car........love, love, love it. Because of this, I don't have a smart phone so my cell phone is just that, a phone and easy to carry in my pocket. These are the kinds of rewards I work for. I try to get myself a present every tax season.
  19. Go to Members in the blue bar above, click on that; search for the member you want; click on avatar. There will be a box that says "Send me a Message". Alternately, if the person is visible to you in the current posts, just click on the avatar and it will take you to the same place. click on "send me a message" and a box opens up for you to type the message in.
  20. This is what I do and I can log in at any time by clicking on Favorites.
  21. I use my tablet for many things including this forum. However, I consider it a toy and a luxury for me. It can never replace either my desktop or high-powered business laptop. I know the new PC tablets are much more advanced, but very pricey. For less money you can get a REALLY good laptop with Win 7. Add a wireless mouse and away you go and take your work with you. Obviously, different scenarios work for different people.
  22. I would delete the Sch C from the return if you can and then add a new one. Either that or close the entire return and the program and then reopen.
  23. What happened in Atlanta last night would be pretty significant even in Wisconsin. Give them a chance to deal with it.
  24. I have heard that there has been a LOT of pressure brought to bear on Microsoft. And, don't forget the many, many owners of personal PCs who cannot afford and/or shouldn't have to dump a perfectly good machine just so they can do online shopping or whatever. As for ATX, I already knew in 2011 that my XP machine was not going to be able to handle the program for another year. It was really churning by the end of 2011 and has been updated to the max.
  25. I am currently using Quicken 10 Deluxe. There are lots and lots of reports in the Report drop-down list. The main report I use is the Bank Cash Flow Report, but I have done the bookkeeping so I know what is supposed to be in there. There are times when you have to go elsewhere for some information. I have never done a corp, but do several partnerships. You won't get anything out on a report that has not been entered into the program. I use Quicken 10 for Dummies as a guide. Balance sheets are not always required for partnerships, especially family owned. However, I prepare them anyway. Some things, such as depreciation, flow right from ATX.
