  3. I don't see how, but you could just set the $1 per trade as your default, then 'edit' the bill to add the $10 to each bill. That seems to me the easiest way, given the options you have.
  4. I got in.
  5. Mel, we still greatly appreciate your input, and hope you will continue to be a member of this community. Especially since you are the best at explaining technical things in ways that we can usually actually understand. ;)
  6. Yes, it's intended to allow you to split your refund into multiple accounts, such as sending some to savings and some to checking, of to send some to husband's account and some to wife's account, etc. NOT to allow the tax preparer, or anyone else, to get paid out of the refund. Of course, that will not stop some unethical people from trying to use it that way. As David said, "I have seen it (ab)used by some in an attempt to do a free "RAC" by depositing preparer fees to preparer bank."
  7. Well, I don't know who objected, and don't really care enough to bother searching for their gripe. I don't care if a dozen people object. As long as the title makes it clear what the post is about, no one needs to read them unless they want to. And as a true 'community', I see them as part of the social purpose of this board. Now, some few members don't care about the 'social' purpose, and that is fine, that does not hurt anyone. However, if their attitude is that no one else should get to share the social side of our community, just because they don't want to, that is wrong. We are a Community, not just a tax board. And I know that I, for one, have gained a lot from the social side. The prayers and kind words I got during last year were a tremendous help to me in getting through the days of not knowing if my husband was going to make it. And then the stress of trying to take care of him while also maintaining the entire client load almost entirely on my own. Some days I was so down, and then I'd go back and reread some of your prayers, and they gave me the strength to keep on keeping on. You will never know how much my friends here, most of whom I've never met, mean to me. Please, Bill, go back to posting those birthday greetings!
  8. Hey, TaxBilly, isn't this your official job, keeping up with Birthday wishes? :scratch_head:
  9. Hope all of you have a wonderful Holiday, and thank you all for your kind words.
  10. All of them start with your EFIN, which must not be changed. They all end with the year code, so all of them will end with 9 THIS FILING SEASON. Your default starting number is 00000, so your first efile this year will start with 00-your efin-000009 unless you change the starting DCN. Next one will be 00-your efin-000019 then 00-your efin-000029, which is why some newbie to efiling will post a question about why his DCN is increasing by 10's !!!!
  11. I love it.
  12. Well, I would hardly consider someone who has killed or imprisoned so many of his own people merely for disagreeing with him "benevolent". I do find that comparison insulting. And I was the one who used that phrase, not Eric. So drop the plural pronoun, please, when quoiting me. I'm now going to use MY best judgment, and close this thread but leave it for those who want the links.
  13. I just got a package with the two AllStates TaxExpert disks. Could it be that was what you were supposed to be getting?
  14. Yep. Eric and I try to be 'benevolent dictators', because we respect our members as friends and fellow professionals With only very rare exceptions, we let you have free rein. OF course, this summer we found out the down side of that, for a brief time!
  15. Well, I can SEE the problem, although I'm not sure how you did that. Here's what my sig looks like on the page where I can edit it. KC[/size ] I had to remove the final ] to let you see that. Your's does not have the signature BETWEEN the two code boxes. Correct that and you should see it change.
  16. OK, I'm going to go by your opinon for now Bill. I've edited the topic title, and will leave it here for now.
  17. It will probably be fairly early, since this year, for once, we have not had a lot of late changes in the code, and in the forms. But it will vary by state, and depend on the IRS approving the forms, so it's never something that you can know for sure in advance. Just be patient.
  18. Well, when you edit the sig by using the buttons, it inserts the code, which you can see at that point, but should not see int he actual version. HOWEVER, if you accidental delete any part of the code, like the last ] for example, that will invalidate the 'code' and turn it into just text. Even adding a space in the wrong place can turn a 'code' into text. Try deleting the entire thing, and starting over from scratch, typing the entire part you want before you add any codes, and be careful not to change anything after you add the code.
  19. Well, if they deep-six the corp, and just form a simple partnership, then they would not need to do payroll, they can take draws, because partnerships distribute all income and losses to the partners through the K-1. But please emphasize to them that they must keep GOOD RECORDS in order for you to determine both the income and the allocations between partners. And STRONGLY encourage them to at a minimum do a WRITTEN partnership agreement, and consider GPP. This is especially important where they all work in the business, as putting it in writing can cause them to face up to issues of who gets what, and does what, and how profits are distributed. It's disagreements after the fact that break up most of these types of businesses within a year or two, where there is no written partnership agreement.
  20. It's 21here now, but 'feels like' 13, accourding to weather.com. Supposed to get down to 19 tonight, high of 38 tomorrow and low of 378, then high of 60 on Wed, but low of 27, then high of 43 and low of 34 on Chritmas, and 65-54 on Friday. Never know what to expect here from day to day this time of year.
  21. As tax professionals, we all understand how Santa felt. It's the same way we all feel on April 15th. It's amazing how many of our clients actually survive when they walk in for the first time all year on that day, isn't it?
  22. Again I'd like to remind all newbies that we really do appreciate it if you at least put in your state in your profile. It helps us know who to ask when we have a state-related question, for one thing. If you put in your birthday, we'll post birthday greeting to you. And anything else you want to share, of course. Just go to My Controls, on the top of the page, to see lots of options you have. Also, while we do not have a spell-check on the board, if you go to http://www.iespell.com/ you will find a great free checker, that is one of the best around, which works great with this board.
  23. So order it online. Same deal.
  24. Click on My Controls at the top of the page. Then look on the left side of the page, select 'edit signature', and you will get to the proper field to set up the sig as you want it to be. You can select size, color, etc. Add a quote, if you wish. Once you have it as you like, come back to the board, and you will see it changed everywhere.
