  1. The monoclonal antibodies; the treatment is free and most hospitals have them. They just aren't giving them out for some reason.
  2. Before I did the dispose of property, he owed no tax. So a short tax year wouldn't hurt.
  3. You told him that you hadn't heard from him and didn't file an extension. He hasn't even paid! Tell him to go elsewhere, you have Covid.
  4. Thanks for this; just emailed the link to one of my clients.
  5. I spent a little bit of time today watching TV & playing games. Now back to the salt mines.
  6. keep us informed on how you feel and don't hesitate to reach out for help if you need it. I don't know what all we can do besides provide moral support, but we will provide that!
  7. TP died in August 2020, had a rental property. I put in that the property was disposed of on DOD to stop depreciation, used the 'do not calculate gain or loss' option. The property went into a trust. Anyways, ATX isn't calculating QBI even though there is rental income on deceased TP return. Is this correct? I don't remember anything regarding deceased tp not qualifying for QBI.
  8. The first 2 are gone. Meaning the IRS took them down to concentrate on EIP 3
  9. Is this something new this year? In prior years, brokers didn't add the wash sales back to basis and we couldn't report them on line 1a of Schedule D. This year, some are and some aren't. Or maybe the only wash sales I've had are Fidelity and now Etrade. I haven't had an update class since last summer and I am missing a lot that I usually don't.
  10. I was just looking for the answer to this question! Have recently divorced couple and the kids live full time with one parent but we juggled the 3 kids to optomize refunds last year. Nice to tell the custodial parent she will get more stimulus.
  11. File your extensions now while you have the energy to do so. For everyone. Then if you have the energy to complete them, no harm no foul. That way you are covered if either you or your husband have worse than a mild case.
  12. Catherine, I do the same thing! Take off my glasses and put the paper up to my face. This year I got actual computer glasses and they help some with the tiny fonts.
  13. This is the second client I've had with this issue; Fidelity at least has been adding the adjustment from wash sale to cost basis so if I report the way I think I should, the reported gain/loss doesn't match. Has anyone seen this with any other brokers?
  14. I haven’t had anyone die, and forgoed my RMD since I didn’t need it. Stock market is up. Have less expenses since I haven’t gone anywhere. I’m going stir-crazy, but financially I’m fine as are my clients as far as I can tell. maybe I’m just weird.
  15. I have one of these and luckily I started doing their taxes shortly after he retired, so I’m using the simplified method. It reduces the taxable amount slightly each year. If they were reducing the taxable amount by the full amount....jeez that’s wrong! I’m glad that OPM is now calculating the taxable amount.
  16. When I have MFS or RDP returns in a community property state, I override the tax paid line all the time. It has never been a problem. Have one on my desk I'm working on for this year; haven't tried it yet. Fingers crossed!
  17. Ah, Pacun, I have not been affected by Covid. Have not gotten Covid, I've always worked from home remotely. I see very few clients. I was never shut down, because-remote! My husband is my assistant. Lost one (major) client, but it's because he's gotten WAY too complicated and decided to go to a bigger firm. I agreed with him. I've gotten 3 new clients already.
  18. Yes, load the software on new computer first, then export files from old computer B, import to new computer A
  19. I'm not affected by Covid at all. Nor my spouse. Just sayin'.
  20. Ugh, my entire program data file is gone.
  21. I've got blank server settings in all my ATX, payroll & tax programs. Since I just installed on a new computer, I still have the 2019 settings I can copy from on the old computer. Does anyone know if this will work?
  22. I think she can either draw his benefit or her own but not both. At least this is my understanding of the whole mess. But why SS/RR wouldn't add in the 20 years of SS that he paid into at the army base I don't know.
  23. I'm with Lion; I've had a couple of local clients pay me with cash, but most pay with their credit cards through my website. A few send checks, which I don't mind since PayPal takes out quite a bit in fees. I've got to admit, taking the fees for 3 years of back tax returns in cash was kinda nice...
  24. And then there’s CA, with their new health care credit....
  25. I'm only 60 but I feel you! I've already refused to take anyone that's had PPP, EIP (except one existing client and she only got the 10k 'free' loan). My international client is ex-patriating soon. Anyone that quits me, hey it's fine. I figure the computer I just bought will be my last.
