  1. I always export the data from within the program and then import it into the same program on the new computer. Just did it for 2019 Payroll!
  2. Ok, I just checked the account the last stimulus went to and the account that was referenced on 2019. Nothing. What's happening? It's not like I need the money, but still....
  3. I'm setting up my new computer and trying to access ATX to download my software. Of course I have to reset my password. So I click the link and.....nothing happens. No email to the account I have linked and I checked the spam, notifications, newsletters, etc to see if it went there by mistake. Waited a couple of hours to see if the email was slow, no email. Does anyone have the phone number for support so that I can call them tomorrow? BTW, I have concierge support if any one has that number.
  4. I did not know this, got a Florida client that may rent their condo when they are traveling. Good to know!
  5. I’ve had Dells for the last 2 computers. I just got a new one because my last one didn’t like it when the power went off & hubby suggested a new one. I’ll be setting it up in the next few days
  6. Tom, when. I got fired from my part time job it was the BEST thing to happen to me! I had same sex couples to keep me busy, you’ve got PPP & all the other COVID changes to keep you busy. I’m not doing any PPP stuff; I refuse to learn it and don’t need the money, which is what a lot of you said with same sex couples 10 years ago. I’ll refer out any that approach me.
  7. JohnH, I paper filed a 2016 trust return (balance due) this summer and the IRS processed the payment but seems to have lost the return! We filed a second copy. You May want to call to check the status of your clients return.
  8. Got a CyberPower today. It’s powering up now. i have solar, but don’t have the battery yet, so the power still goes out. Battery is next year, I think.
  9. We had our power go out today and my husband couldn’t get to my computer fast enough to shut it down. (I was asleep). Anyways, it’s time for a new battery backup. I probably need a 1500 or so; 10 minutes of time for computer & 1 monitor so I can shut it down. Does anyone have a recommendation? I look online and my head swims.
  10. I explain the tractor trailers of paper returns that were at the service centers and say, “you just have to wait”
  11. I can never keep this straight
  12. I put in solar last year but paid cash; otherwise it would have taken years to use up the credit. Bills are now the fees I can’t get around since every month the solar has generated more than we’ve used. I sold a property to get the cash, so I still owed tax for 2019, boo! part of what I was looking to get out of it was peace of mind; I don’t care how much electricity I use now since I’m generating it myself.
  13. I’m a liberal and I get pissed off mad when ‘little’ changes to the tax code (like PMI reinstatement) are done so far after the fact. Or in December, ferchrissake! I know what a headache this kind of stuff means for us. My only redeeming factor is that most, if not all of my PMI clients don’t itemize anymore, and CA never conformed to PMI so no change there. I only have one client that took a stimulus loan, no PPP, and I’ll deal with the IRA withdrawals next year. But holy crap. Stable tax laws allow businesses to plan ahead, budget for capital improvements ... I’m so happy at least half of my clients are retired.
  14. I work remote, but I won’t work for $45!
  15. I’ve been using Advantage since it’s inception. If you do a lot of multi-state returns it makes calculating the credits a snap. It also does an optimization for the education credits/deduction. There are other differences, but this is what I can think of offhand
  16. I only have one client that applied for a PPP loan. So my answer is no, not really!
  17. The trustees are also the beneficiaries, so I’m not expecting any issues there. right now I’m not believing one over the other until I see the legal docs filed. I don’t believe 2008 was filed correctly due to paying MO tax; mom lived in Lithuania! MO should have filed with a Lithuanian address and her as POA.
  18. I book rent when received, unless a client gives me a 'we charge $1450/month' as the info. The last 8 years of returns were filed with Vilnius, Lithuania as the address. 2008 was filed with MO's address, but I don't think that was correct, since she lived in Lithuania. I didn't file 2008. And yes, the sisters were fighting then too.
  19. There was a 1099-R issued for 2016, with NY as trustee. $80k distribution & 40K income. As far as I know, there hasn't been any CP2000 or any other correspondence from the IRS.
  20. Sch C, choose nonresidential property in fixed assets. Just like our home offices are nonresidential property.
  21. I haven’t received anything. Maybe it’s time to check my spam..
  22. The NY court declined to rule, stated it was an “academic question” per NY trustee.
  23. Ugh, yes the check has been renegotiated many times over the years, by NY trustee after MO trustee refused to sign a paper allowing NY trustee to open bank account. That is where it differs from your corporate example where presumably there was the option of depositing.
  24. Oh yeah, I almost forgot c) what's the situs? One co-trustee lives in NY, the other in MO. The decedent moved back to Lithuania years ago and died there.
