  1. I don't know if this will work. I had a problem reinstalling my ATX software for 2007 and customer service gave me "a generic" activation code. 01000-81200-83675-00289 You can try it, but no guarentees.

Eric: Thanks for adding the Google search. Far better than the previous search we had.

Look at the bottom of the General Chat page. There is a legend showing what the icons mean in front of a topic. On my computer, a black foder means new replies.
  4. "For those of us who got lucky in pricing with the ATX Software package through TRX, I am curious to know how our business relationship with CCH is going to be this coming Tax season. Do we still get the opportunity to utilize the resources provided by CCH ( myatx web page) or we have to go through TRX for all our solutions?" I can't remember the post to give you a quote, but CCH has said and I have confirmed, we will get our support from CCH and have full access, with our CCH ID's and passwords to My ATX and the online research site. As far as this season goes, TRX seems to be completely out of the picture. As to next year, your guess is as good as mine. Probably back to CCH> QUOTE (kcjenkins @ Oct 6 2009, 03:51 PM) I did buy the new year's program through TRX. Since CCH has agreed to honor those just as if we bought it from them, I did not have to cancel or do anything at all. Effectively, nothing changed except that I saved $699 on the renewal.

I use the links to go to My ATX. Maybe just a link to ATX website?
  10. I received a call from ATX sometime ago verifying I purchased ATX through TRX. I recently went on line to MyATX and it shows I am to receive MAX and it also showed my activation or unlock codes for 2009. There was a post back about the same time. 11. It happened to my yesterday, but today it was back and had no problem accessing it.
  12. Thanks. I have used three of them and they work great. CCleaner I use daily and weekly backups with Syncback and never had a problem with either. Smart DeFrag is fast, plus you can defrag any number of drives simultaneously.
  13. Brief outline by Spidell An extension of the First-Time Homebuyer Credit with these changes (all effective after November 6, 2009): The credit is for first-time homebuyers who purchase their homes before July 1, 2010, if there's a binding contract in place before May 1, 2010; There is an increase in the AGI limitations; The purchase price is limited to $800,000; A credit is available of up to $6,500 for purchase of principal residence by an individual who has owned and maintained the same principal residence for any five consecutive years during the eight-year period preceding the date of purchase; and New anti-abuse provisions have been added. 16. Sorry, no offense intended. Having been born and raised in Southern California, we had an abundance of crooked car dealers (new and used).
  17. At least their website works and is not under construction. Sometimes, I feel like we are dealing with used car salesmen.
  18. I can't find a cite, but I have included deferred interest on a final 1040. Check the TreasuryDirect site, it has FAQ's. http://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/resear...nds_eedeath.htm

    CA Taxes

"No new conformity (10-12-09) The Governor vetoed the conformity bill (AB 1580) because of a provision that would have imposed penalties on taxpayers who filed refund claims without a reasonable basis. Unfortunately, the veto means continued complexity of California return preparation for years to come. The author of the bill has said he will not reintroduce another conformity bill because "The time and resources dedicated to conformity over the past few years have simply been too great." So, California has not generally conformed to any federal provisions enacted after December 31, 2004."
  22. Thanks. I have a client now in Iraq whose wife was desperately looking to use the credit.

    Considering ATX

According to a few of my "ex" clients, that's what Turbo Tax gives them now or, when they come back to me, THEN. "All I have to do now is answer a few questions and it gives me all my money back.....well, most of it, AND it doesn't ask me for receipts!" Why did you come back? "IRS threw out some of my deductions." Like your cell phone to kept telling me you could deduct! Or that spot on the ceiling you look at each year when I ask for numbers. 50 % of them "tap dance" right back to me. I feel my knowledge and good software balance my business. We expect the software to do the mundane stuff correctly and some of the more complicated calculations, but I should know, roughly, the end result of any figures it comes up with. If I start questioning the outcome of a tax return, or, when to add or discard forms the software neglects to acknowledge as necessary or not, I am relying entirely too much on the software.
