Watch the links to the form. I have the same situation with two HSA withdrawals and the wife's distribution didn't show up on the form but was in the worksheet and the 1099SA.

According to the Schedule D instructions, you must list each transaction. They "emphasized" this last year. Whether they are pushing it, who knows. If you can, you can import the 1099 B as an excel file into the return. Inputing would probably take a lot less time.

On my worksheet, the select activity refers to a Schedule E activity number, in my case #2. So,I am thinking yours would be referring to Schedule A, itemized deduction.

This is why I am worried about how CCH/ATX will handle those of us, next year, that went with TRX. Maybe early retirement is in the works. I tried Drake, but cannot get comfortable with its style of entry. I also think we should move this to the software board.

I went through roughly the same thing a couple of years ago. The person I talked was great and got the issue reopened and they sent out a new questionaire and the problem was solved. Interesting point, I didn't even have a POA and was just feeling out the waters before I jumped in.

Go to the options page on the billing tab. Make sure you check the box in about the middle of the page: include list of forms and worksheets.......

From Fidelity: "A limited number of forms for accounts holding certain non–Fidelity mutual funds and/or certain complex securities, including unit investment trusts, mortgage pool securities, and real estate investment trusts, will be mailed by March 1, 2010." Last year that worked out to be March 3 on their website. There were still errors on a couple of my clients, including my own.

I know most don't have opening problems with the software, but the new version cut opening time from around a minute to 10 seconds and it seems the "resources" it uses are down quite a bit. It still updates automatically after a couple of minutes no matter what is checked or unchecked. Can't have everything!

Is it the way my computer downloaded CA 540 or is the version from ATX screwed up? Page one has the typical name and numbers, but the bottom of the page has the signature. Page 2 and 3 have the rest of the info ending up with refund/amount due. It certainly doesn't look like this on the FTB website.

Move to California and find out!!! From what I am aware of, Ca has not conformed to Federal tax law since 2005. There are a few exceptions, but not many. Ca doesn't tax unemployment.

This was Thursday's program update that fixed some of us who had problems.

When I opened ATX this morning, my usual 3 to 5 minute wait continued. I just downloaded the new version .2.82 and the problems I have been experiencing are gone. 15 seconds for program to open. Still have update problem when opening return or don't do anything of a few minutes, but that I can live with.

"Not intending to be insulting, just trying to think of any reason." You are not, far from it. I have my defrag set to work at 10%. I have clicked and (un)clicked applied and (un) applied so many times I have lost count. The real trip is where I wait for an update, it finally ends, I open a return and it updates exactly what it just updated again!! BUT according to C/S just uncheck and apply and it will work great!

"One other thing to check is how much free disk space you have." "you need to make it a habit to defrag your drive" and Ram are not my problems. I have 2 hard drives with over 200 G's available.

It takes any where from 2 to 5 minutes for my program to open and then, even though I unchecked auto updates, it takes another 4 or 5 minutes to update. C/S told me to " In order to stop the automatic update inside the program on Return Manager> Preferences> Automatic Updates> uncheck the check mark> click apply." Obviously, they don't read the email, where I stated I did this and still had a problem. There are posts on My ATX referring to the same problem and the end result is uninstall and reinstall, but evidently it is involved and you need to be on the phone with a tech to do it. ugh.
