  1. I use acrobat x and it allows you to encrypt attachments, it's pretty straightforward vs using sharefile. Sometimes when I need to send a large document and my client email can't except large email I use sharefile, the only problem it's a multiple step process and need to help the client and sometimes it doesn't work when trying to use it on your cellphone. Remember folks most people are using their smartphones to get their emails now a days.
  2. I am also using Tennez, however since last year the perforated Uni-form paper does not match when printing, my 1099 & W-2's are off. Anyone else?

    EIC audit

Another note my client was informed, her EITC refund was a couple of thousands and as far as I know they also owe her 2012 or 2013 EITC but she had someone help her.

    EIC audit

I did prepare the return and I did collect supporting documents on the original tax return, I didn't think about the due diligence since they are not questioning me directly, but in was going to provide the info I collected for my due diligence.

    EIC audit

One of my 2015 EITC client received a letter back in March 2016 informing her they were going to hold her refund until she sends support documents (a list was provided). She brought the letter and I high lighted additional items to bring and I would write a letter once she bring me all her additional documents. I didn't hear back from her until this past December when she again received the same letter, I went through the list and asked her to get me everything she he has access to, we were going to give the IRS everything, even DNA if necessary, last week she brought in about 80% of documents and was only pending a landlord letter stating that her children lived with her. Today she brings in a letter dated 12-12-16 from the IRS informing her, her return will be audited and the she owes back the EITC plus penalties and interest, again the letter request support documents on the children. She cannot owe anything since she didn't receive a refund and it makes me wonder if this is a tactic by to IRS to get her to send in proof?
  6. Will share, thanks
  7. A real estate agent formed an LLC and made the election to be treated as an 1120S, when she makes a sale, her commissions are paid to the LLC, then she draws a salary, here are my questions: Since she is the one that is making the commission, the LLC is really not providing a service (how I see it), shouldn't the whole commission be subject to S/E tax? Let say the commission earned for a given month is $5,000, she only draws a salary of $1,500 for that month, the difference stays in the bank account, so she will pay ordinary tax on $3,500. Would this be considered a reasonable compensation?

  10. Yesterday I called both vendors what is said above is true, ATX is blaming QB, but as Jack said, you cannot import XPS files from prior working years, the good news ATX will have it fixed by January 31, 207.
  11. So the only option is to manually enter all the W-2 information into ATX I guess
  12. There is glitch in various years of QB's that doesn't allow you to export W2's into XPS format to upload into ATX payroll compliance, has anyone been successful creating an XPS file and importing it into ATX?
  13. You can always apply it to 2016 or 2017, a simple (1 hour waiting time) call to the IRS will resolve the issue.
  14. How much of a tax saving can he get with a few days left in the year?
  15. What is the process of requesting a joint transcript (wage and earnings) when one there is one surviving spouse? Thanks
  16. Is it possible to setup ATX to require a password to open the program?
  17. Can someone with a fresh memory on ACA point me (rules) to where it's prohibited for a business (C-Corp) owner to pay his/her health insurance directly to the marketplace from the business checking account. Thanks

    Tax break?

Scenario In 2013, TP spouse had to relocate temporarily to a different state for work and TPs' employer allowed him to work from home without a problem. In 2014, spouse assignment ended and TP returned to his office. In 2016, TP and spouse decided to buy a house in a different state, the move was not related to work, however this time TPs' employer did not allow him to work from home. So the TP has to fly back and forth, rent an apartment and is incurring out of pocket expense, would this count as an unreimbursed employee expense?
  19. It's actually not a laptop, but thank you.
  20. From one day to another my PC start-up time went from instant to 30+ minutes, this happen after getting an unexpected error, then the blue screen, has anybody else had this problem and know the fix?
  21. Have you considered just installing an SSD drive? I did that to a brand new computer, however I still get low memory for ATX and Quick books once in a while.
  22. LOL, that's exactly what I was going to say, honestly that's why I don't feel bad about it anymore.
  23. Client is aware already and is going through hard times.
  24. Hypothetically speaking, let's say a client owes you money and you have since stopped doing work for them, would you still prepare W-2's for them (if not paid)?
  25. Here is a sample of the fine print: Disclaimer: Please note that pre- and post-settlement litigation financing advances are not loans. Pre- and post-settlement litigation financing advances fall into the category of funding known as “non-recourse funding.” Repayment of litigation financing advances is contingent on winning or settling the lawsuit.
