Marie
Client needs proof of extension for his bank. Is there a form or screen to print that shows it has been accepted?
ILLMAS
Yes, under the efile tab in ATX, highlight TP and go to e-file, click on display selected e-file acknowledgment history
Lion EA
I have mine set up to send me an email. I don't use ATX, but I do use CCH. Also, on the electronic filing status screen I can click on a return ID and get a printable and exportable pop-up that includes the e-Postmark date and details right down to each state acceptance (for the few states I can e-file extensions) and the Submission ID. I can do all that from within the client's return as well.

JohnH
Every time I've been asked for one, I just had the client send the lender a copy of the 4868. I've never had a question come back requesting any sort of proof of acceptance. (I like the path of least resistance) Edited April 21, 2015 by JohnH
Catherine
I have sent clients those e-file ack's for extensions and had banks REJECT them -- but they'll take the 4868 with NO proof of filing. They are drones looking to check a box; do NOT ask them to think because for the most part they don't know how.
JohnH
When you're confident you're dealing with drones, it's a good idea to know how to feed them in order to keep them fat & lazy. Sometimes they try to fight back when the worker bees start ejecting them from the hive. Edited April 21, 2015 by JohnH
