  1. Abby, at this stage of my life, "dependable" is more important than "sexy"

  2. I have gone almost completely away from apptmts and do all drop-off/email/mail and do apptmts for pick-ups only if necessary..

  3. If you're in a state with an income tax that requires you to itemize for federal if you want to itemize for state, and also has a low state standard deduction (I'm looking at you Maryland!), you may find yourself taking itemized deductions on federal even though they're lower than the standard deduction because you can save more in state taxes than it costs you in federal taxes. I've been doing a lot of that for years. I also play with taking a lower sales tax amount instead of income tax itemized deduction in various situations. Sometimes it results in a higher tax but the state income tax refund is not taxable next year and saves taxes overall taking the 2 years together. Did someone say 'tax simplification'?

  4. No one knows, until it is official. Skimming one version (479 pages) for grins, there is at least one item pertaining to 2015...

  5. The only regulation for reporting the 2% shareholder insurance has to do with W2 reporting. Some claim it must also be on a 940 and 941, but I have never seen such official instruction. rfassett agrees with me, and the 941 instructions - the instructions say the 941's and W2 should match, but they do not have to. The one caveat is one should keep notes as to why they do not match.

  6. The gross wages on the 941 do not need to match the social security \ Medicare wages. The first wage line will be grossed up for the health insurance and this should tie out to box 1 of the W-3. The shareholder then will report that number as wages and deduct the health insurance on the proper line.

  8. Are you choosing Transcript Delivery System? When you get to the login screen, if the first 3 characters of the URL are la2, change that to la1. Or just click here.

  10. Hmm... I'm currently logged in and can see my e-services application without problems. Unless I'm talking about something different?

  11. Are you trying to update your Application? I was told to always access the application through the link on this website: https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/e-services-online-tools-for-tax-professionals

  13. Personally, I automatically save return every few minutes to a jump drive, so that doesn't concern me so much. Then, weekly during tax season, back up entire drive to an external drive. My Guru just cleaned up my computer inside and out so I rather feel that I am ahead of the game. I think I am finished ordering supplies and the program install went smoothly. I have nothing to complain about....YET.

  14. Key word. As best I can tell, Autosave does not. It does NOT work. 5 tax years it has not worked. Unless early updates fix this, it will be a weekly complaint of mine to ATX.

  15. Actually I received those books months ago and had forgotten about them. I gave the Tax Book to my assistant to take home. I was happy to receive the all states book because I only order that once every three years or so and that has worked out well. I have not had any issues with downloading the new program and the updates are going well. So far, I have seen only improvements and have nothing to complain about......YET!
