  1. When I began preparing taxes in 1983 an instructor in the tax school asked if anyone might want to join their staff in the upcoming tax season. If so he advised I can promise you the biggest can of worms you will ever encounter. After now almost forty years I can attest to the factual accuracy of what he said so long ago. A Happy New Year to all.

  4. May God give us all the strength to get through the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Quarters of 2020... Perhaps we can hope/pray for a return to normalcy on January 1st, 2023. (Loved your comment on Qx of 2020 some time ago, Lion, and have used it ever since!)

  9. One of them is working with me now. And, what a blessing she is. She has amazing work ethics and this is her chance to really learn the ins and outs of this business. She loves it, as do I. Therefore, she is helping me in so many ways and I am teaching her. She is half my age so someday she will probably be sitting in this chair. She is absolutely in awe of how varied and complicated tax preparation can be. I am very thankful. Extra bonus: my clients love her.

  11. Clients are beginning to call for appointments in mid February. This is a good thing. Clients are asking, "Can I send my daughter, neighbor, friend?" It is beginning to sound as though taxpayers are totally confused by all the things that they are hearing. Well, we are here to help. Unfortunately, we don't know all of the answers yet; but nobody knows that except us.

  12. At first I did too except for the next part about taxpayers being confused about all the new things and mcb's practice being there to help. I agree with you about the POA for your interpretation though.

  13. Hmm, I took the OP to mean that clients were asking about sending friends and relatives in as new clients.

  15. Someone on some platform was counting the days, such as March 621, 2020. That's too much work, but I love it. Even my hubby (a church music director and piano teacher) has started using 8Q 2020.

  16. TP had an over payment of $400 from 2019 applied to 2020 and an over payment of $3,000 applied to 2021 estimated tax payments, TP receives a check for $3,000 today. IRS check is for the period of 12/2019 for $3,000 plus some interest and when I called the IRS, I was told since the TP didn't have a balance due for 2019 and 2020 the IRS released the over payment, the options the TP has, was to give send it back (voided) to the IRS or to cash it and send the payment back with the 4th quarter ES payment
