  1. I just did a 2023 return with 2024 installed on the same computer--had no issues. With regard to support, I have not heard of any software program where the support is improving. I base my choice on the quality of the software I'm using and if it is compatible with my brain. I am amused each year when ATX posts their phone hours for tax season but doesn't give you the phone number.

  4. WK CCH doesn't care, and customer support has been awful ever since Glynn Willett sold the business. The reason this unofficial forum exists is because the company closed down the official forum on April 11, 2007 because some of the more outspoken users were complaining about the program, leaving users without any means of support or help. That is how little it cares about its customers.

  5. It turns out it was a system issue with the IRS website and the issue has resolved itself overnight.

  6. No. Your employee logs into your computer as usual, but uses their own phone to authenticate. Always remember that the phone is tied to the computer. Therefore, if the employee has an authenticater for a different computer, he/she will have a different one for your computer. Your phone doesn't enter into anyone else logging into your program on YOUR computer.

  7. The purchaser has obligated him- or herself by paying the vendor with borrowed funds, so the deduction is when the charge occurs, not when the payment is made to the credit card company. Here are some references: Rev. Rul. 78-38 states that you may deduct a donation to a qualified charity via a charge to your bank credit card in the year the charge is made, regardless of when the bank is repaid Rev. Rul. 78-39 states the same rule for medical expenses. IRS Pub. 583, Starting a Business and Keeping Records (Rev. January 2007), p. 13, eludes to treatment of business expenses charged to a credit card using the transaction date for recording the deduction.

  10. Has anyone experienced ATX 2023 issues after installing ATX 2024? The software freezes when printing to PDF or inserting PDFs into returns, and the only way to exit is through Task Manager. I’ve been in contact with tech support for five days, but I’ve yet to receive a callback from a specialist as promised. After 20+ years of using ATX, the decline in support is concerning, and I’m considering alternative programs for the future. Suggestions???

  11. Why not just play fair? Why build up a name and then drag it through the mud. Taxpayers need a place to go for honest help?

  12. Back to your problem, maybe something changed in your system recently that is causing this. Do you know when the issue started? Maybe the topic below may help, and if you search the general chat forum for "freeze" "freezing" "crash" or "lockup" and sort by date, you will get more topics that may have something useful.

  13. From the perspective of the person buying something, paying a business expense, making a chartible donation, paying medical expenses, etc, the deduction is in the year that the charge occurs, as I've said for the 4th time now and with cites. This line of questioning reminds me of times when a non-tax pro sneaks through with a question and one of the reasons why we don't allow or answer questions from the general public on this forum. Also, one other post hidden that was off-topic.

  14. Interesting topic. We just cancelled a store card because they sold/hired it out to one of the affinity visa/mc issuers. For certain things, we prefer store cards as we let the store take the risk if the card gets hacked or lost (no balance, so their obscene interest is of no concern). For business use, and really personal, it is derelict to not be using a rewards card, which also makes store cards, sans rewards, useless to me.

  17. That's the third time in the last 18 years that HRB has been fined by the FTC. They were also sued by the state of California, for which they had to pay $1.6 million.
