  1. Are you really 88? I'm 75 plus. I was thinking two more years minimum, four more maximum. That would put me (with extension due date) at 78 or 80.

  4. A client came in with a 1099-INT she wasn't expecting. We amended. She owed Fed $6 and Ky $1. Ordinarily I would have told her to forget it but she was an IRS employee so I told her she better amend and pay to play it by the book. She told me she had to keep everything good with the state filing too. So we amended both and she paid the extra.

  5. Yes, you submit one for each year the RMD was not met. You must use the form for that tax year, and if filing as a standalone form, it is a paper filing. It can be filed as part of an e-filed 1040 filing (the one that would be filed with the 2024 form 1040 filing, for example) or e-filed with a 1040X too if that return as other corrections/amendments.

  6. Just upgraded from three 24 inch monitors to three 32 inch curved monitors. Measured horizontally, it's just shy of 7 feet of screen space, because screens are measured horizontally. My eyes are so happy! (Excuse the mess!)

  8. I think the 20 inches were horizontal. I think the way they are labeled is a diagonal measurement. So mine are probably 24 inches diagonally.

  10. If the parents are eligible to claim the child but do NOT claim the child, then the child still is NOT able to claim herself but CAN claim the non-refundable part of AOC. How you enter that in your software, I don't know because I don't use ATX. Someone here will tell you, or contact your tech support.

  12. I agree that the return would be rejected if a return had already been filed for that SSN. However, there is something new this year for dependents. If the primary taxpayer has an IPPIN and claims a dependent that has already been claimed on another return, the return will be accepted. The dependency will still have to be resolved and the taxpayer should expect a notice, but they do not have to paper file. If the primary taxpayer does not have an IPPIN, the return will be rejected as in prior years. (If they want to e-file, they can obtain an IPPIN and re-submit.)

  16. On the K-1 "Global Information" there is a box to check under "Customer & Preparer Copy" that will print the basis statement and it will roll over every year.
