  3. I am skeptical as to how this would work. You have several different years with different rates and possibly different max $ limits. In my state you have to file amended returns.

  4. I renewed a couple of weeks ago. Also spent a good 45 min with tech support walking me through networking my two workstations so my assistant can do basic data entry and I can just open up the return and go on from there. The guy was really good and really thorough; he knew his networking stuff. It would have been a bit faster if I didn't have a partitioned drive; there were some extra steps. Plus I was taking notes as we went.

  5. Yes, don't do anything until you ask Wage & Hours what they will accept. And by all means, stress the benefit to the employees, rather than the convenience of the employer.

  7. I have recently noticed an occasional glitch when I open 2014. The blue screen will come up and the program will not open. I went to task manager and it shows ATX Splash Screen on the task list. When I cancel that task, the software opens up. It just started doing this to me after tax season, and it does not happen all the time. I noticed that it happens when I fire up my computer and I click on the ATX icon immediately. If I wait until I have opened my e-mail and internet, it does not seem to happen. weird. Tom Newark, CA

  8. I would ask the wage & hour folks if they would let you do it this year to save a ton of work and so employees don't have to amend their taxes. They might be sympathetic.

  9. Yes, Peachtree has now jumped on the bandwagon of "you don't own what you PAID FOR -- you just lease it from us." NOT acceptable.

  10. I recently did not renew my Peachtree (Sage) accountants plan. I had one client left using Peachtree and he was switching to QB. So at $500, I did not want to renew. I have the 2015 version already. Recently I opened up the program and was not allowed to make any changes. I could only review what I had already entered. That was a surprise since I thought I still had that complete program (and paid for it previously). Apparently, they zapped me online. Oh well, I really don't need it. I'll use QB and ride it out.

  11. QB requires the latest version if you use their payroll, and I have one client that does. To open a file, QB requires you have at least as new a version as the client file you are trying to open. At least this year the client gave me their third user license so I didn't have to buy the ^}#%] program. intuit, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.

  12. I'd like my PTIN fee and renewals refunded too. Did anyone see this class action suit: http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2014/09/08/irs-hit-with-class-action-suit-over-tax-preparer-user-fees/
