  1. No, the contribution deduction on the original return is unchanged by the NOL carryback because that deduction on line 10 is specifically calculated without regard to any NOL carryback to that year. In other words, do not recalculate that deduction. This is covered in the instructions to form 1120, but that is more difficult to find at the moment because that document is currently under revision. An older version of the instructions states this as it pertains to calculating the deduction on line 10 of the 1120:
  2. After deleting the EF Info form, did you close the return before adding that form again? Here are other topics where users had the same issue. Seems you were one that had this issue before...
  3. Afaik, and according to the latest update of Pub 1220, the IRS has not yet included the Form 1099-NEC in its combined fed/state filing program and will necessitate a separate state filing for these forms for any states that require them. Other 1099s and information returns that are transmitted are listed in a topic when I posted about this issue back in January (link below). Can you actually confirm from your e-file records that the "NEC" forms were transmitted to the state?
  4. From the instructions for line 7: Don't include salaries and wages reported elsewhere on the return, such as amounts included in cost of goods sold, elective contributions to a section 401(k) cash or deferred arrangement, or amounts contributed under a salary reduction SEP agreement or a SIMPLE IRA plan. So, for lines 7 & 8, report this as gross minus the 125 & 401k deferrals Line 12 - this would be all inclusive, including the portion for shareholders and officers, unless some of the expense is separated out in COS line 17 - include employer match AND employees' and officers' deferrals here that weren't on lines 7 & 8 line 18 - include any employee benefits including the sec 125 elective deferrals not included on lines 7 & 8 line 19 - not exactly sure what your question is for this line.
  5. Is the deduction showing up on line 10b? We had a topic posted back on 1/25 where users reported that the deduction wasn't appearing, and a program update took care of correcting that.
  6. The worksheet is actually asking for an EIN of (one of) the payer(s), but if you don't have that, have more than one, and especially since the worksheet is NOT sent with the e-filing, I'd suggest just entering all zeroes and move on through the processing.
  7. Anything related to normal maintenance or repair type items, to fix or maintain its condition, haven't been deductible or included in selling expenses since the Tax Relief Act of 1997.
  8. Only those costs that would be considered a capital improvement can be added to the basis of this investment property. Other expenditures that are of the nature of repairs, maintenance, or fixing up aren't deductible and are not additions to basis.
  9. Nothing, if it gets rid of the error, but in some cases people are still having problems with this and ATX's own solution in the error says that entering all zeroes is OK, and we now have 5 separate topics on this very worksheet. This shouldn't even be a required entry since the worksheets aren't transmitted with the e-file anyway. If it were me, I'd enter all zeroes every time and move on.
  10. Try entering all zeroes on the Fed W/H worksheet.
  11. From the NJ1040 instructions:
  12. It seems that ATX needs to update this, so it's a common problem to that particular worksheet.
  13. Please see this topic on the same subject.
  14. It was discussed recently in this topic:
  15. Not touching the FBAR and do as Lynn and John described above.
  16. Downdetector and other social media sites have noted the problem, so it's not just you. https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/nation-world/social-security-website-down-users-report-issues/507-8660fd87-c10e-4bdd-95c6-8287df36f7fa
  17. I believe you will have to wait until the 12th. IRS MeF operational status shows Production Status as "Operational" but for business returns only. https://www.marketingexpress.irs.gov/systems-status/system-status-mef/modernized-efile-mef-operational-status
  18. To be clear for anyone else reading this that didn't see my other topic, the IRS still has the combined Fed/State filing in place for all the forms that it had in past years but has NOT included the 1099-NEC yet. So for anyone filing other 1099s, for example for INT, DIV or MISC, those would be transmitted to the state(s) if that state participates in the IRS combined filing program.
  19. QB may not allow for a 2nd 1096/1099 set once processed, but an online provider should. For the out-of-state resident, if the income was earned in a state other than CT, you can fill in boxes 5 through 7, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to send it to CT anyway to document that that IC isn't subject to CT income tax or filing if that is the case. That being said, be sure that your client is in compliance with the other state in case the other state would consider that payment has doing business in the other state. Plus, I think Margaret gave the solution while I was slowly typing away! lol
  20. IRS uses the first 4 letters of the last name, so you can truncate it to allow the e-file to process. Just explain to your client the reason why.
  21. In case anyone is not aware: the IRS has NOT included the 1099-NEC in the combined Fed/State filing program, meaning that a separate filing is needed to send these to the state(s). EDITED TO CLARIFY: In case anyone is not aware: the IRS has NOT included the 1099-NEC in the combined Fed/State filing program, so if your state requires these forms and your state participates in the combined filing program for other forms, a separate filing is needed to send these 1099-NECs to the state(s). You will have to check with your state(s) to verify what the acceptable method of transmission is.
  22. This is a requirement of the IRS that the authentication must occur each time a connection to the software is made, so this isn't a problem or limitation specific to Drake. Once logged out of the software or portal, Drake has no way of knowing that it is you again on the other end of the process without you providing all of the log in credentials including the username, password, and the MFA code. It has been optional for the last 2 years and is now a requirement for this year.
  23. I see what happened. PPP title of a post with the same dialog from Monday about not being able to print W-2s where that text had been retained by the forum and posted into your new post in error. I'm deleting it now.
  24. Under the three dots in the upper right corner, do you have a "hide" function? It may not be there if it is the post that created the topic. In that case, I may have to delete it for you. Posters always have the option of hiding their own subsequent posts within a topic. Which post are you trying to delete?
  25. Looks like ATX needs to gray that box because SSA doesn't have an EIN as far as I know, so there's nothing that could be entered there.
