have learned that this feature has been turned off since there were performance issues when importing more than one column of data. The programmers are working on this and expect to have it included in the 12.11 update due out next Thursday. Lynn
-
anyone have success with importing k-1 data? I am at 12.10, all forms are up to date. Tried to import 1120S data into a 1040 and that option is not 'live'. Thaks, Lynn

Do you give free estimates?

Or instead of quoting a 'set' fee, give them a range, $xxx - $yyy, giving LOTS of latitude for the 'whatever's', or include the caveat that the fee is not set in stone, and will vary after you see the full details of their particular tax situation. Lynn -
ATX TV this morning says LA has 3000 outstanding efiles, awaiting processing and ack's and they are working on them. LA did not even start to process efiled returns until 2/15. Lynn
-
Cathy, did you go,to the ATX support site to check the status of your client's LA returns? Perhaps they have been accepted and the ack needs to be rehung . Lynn
-
Sorry Cathy, All of my LA efile shave been accepted, except the one transmitted today. Lynn

So far, I've only been working on 1040's. Need to get cracking on the entities, and soon. But here's my issue. When the 1040 planner prints, the columns for 2016 and 2017 tax year print on a separate page. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a 'fix' or workaround? I posted on the official board, but am not holding my breath for a response on this minor issue. But you'd think they would have realized it would be such a paper waster, and either modify the font so it all fits on one page, or printed it in landscape instead of portrait. My vent for the day. Three choices: Do nothing, Change, Upgrade

I am in the process of transitioning to ultra tax for tax prep. Will continue to use ATX payroll and ATX Tax for sales taxes only, Since I will still use the program I plan to continue with the updates and periodically 'try' the tax module for any improvements during the year. If the program continues to improve so that it's functionality is similar to that of previous years then next year I will continue with ATX for all purposes. If it does not,,....,,, Lynn -
is there another guide you'd recommend besides Richard Hammar's? I always enjoy threads about specialty tax areas. LOTS to learn! Thanks

The system will accept various for purchase date, but insists upon a real date for the sale date. When I aggregate stock/mutual fund sales I use the latest sale date. Sso far, so good. Lynn

Can W-2 substitute form (4852) be efiled?
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana replied to Pacun's topic in General Chat
In my experience while the IRS Wage & Earnings reports accurately reflects what has transpired federally, it does not (and never will) report the state withholdings. Of course, this is not an issue for t/p in states w/o state income tax. Lynn -

Posted about 3 pm 2/21/13 Program Update 12.10 -- What is in it? Locked Favorites Below are some items that are planned to be released and/or corrected with the ATX 2012 Program Update 12.10. Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list. Our target delivery date is Tuesday, February 26th. It will be placed on the Solution Center first Important Information for Network Users Install version 12.10 on the server first. Make sure all other workstations are logged out of ATX 2012 before installing the update to the server. This will prevent files from being locked during the update process. You MUST run netsetup.exe on all workstations Following the steps outline above ensures the registry entries are the same for all workstations, which will also ensure that all your fixed asset data is stored in the proper data directories. Performance and Stability Improvements Our work in the area of program performance and stability continues. This release includes more improvements in these two areas. New Functionality Re-download forms in marked returns: This allows you to mark one or more returns in Return Manager and re-download the updated versions of the forms used in those returns. Client Letter: You can rename the Blank customer template, or edit the federal return Cover Sheet. Resolved Issues 1065 K-1 values are now being updated correctly. The fields marked as estimates on the 1099-R Input sheet can now be unmarked so that e-filing can proceed. By selecting the Complete check box, the current date will be properly posted in the Paid preparer section of the return. Printer properties are now being saved properly The Fix Rejected Bank Apps function has been repaired. Fixed Asset Issues Resolved Depreciation recapture calculation has been corrected to read the current year business use percent as it is being edited. Form 8865 (w/other) was added to the list of available activities for federal signature forms. Kim Manuel VP - Customer Relations -
Fed & State BOTH created...only Fed shows up as created
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana replied to Cathy's topic in General Chat
Cathy, did you check your system preferences? If you look at your system preferences, then e-file manager, there are 3 boxes. I bet the third box is checked - it says 'automatically hold and release state efiles.......' If you uncheck that box, your issue might be solved. Lynn Jacobs, EA Kenner, LA -
Fed & State BOTH created...only Fed shows up as created
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana replied to Cathy's topic in General Chat
The state return is being "Held" until the federal return is accepted. Once the federal is accepted the state will revert to 'created'. -
I have 4 years of 3 or 4 inch binders. At first I filed them by DCN number, but for the 2011 returns (filed in 2012) and going forward they are all being filed alphabetically. I have them separated by form type, 1040's, 1120 and 1120S, 1065, 1041, etc.

Comprehensive Solution Listing
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana replied to cscottpalmer's topic in General Chat
On the 'other' board there is a thread called "Workarounds and Solutions", or something like that. -
Did you do the 12.9 update from the ATX site? If not follow their instructions. That solved the problem on my end.
-
Is this person a U.S. citizen? Who just happened to move overseas? If a U.S. Citizen they will always file a 1040. 1040NR is for non-U.S. citizens. Lynn

12.8 Update...program won't load at all
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana replied to cpabsd's topic in General Chat
Close your program and go to the ATX support, site to download update 12.9. After it downloads and installs reboot your computer. Might have to reboot more than once. In my case even after that the program was very slow to start but it eventually did and I was able to open returns, efile and print. Lynn
