  1. Groan....
  2. Humph! I tried but had to delay until after I send in my CPE to Ohio Accountancy Board. This is my 3 year reporting time and, technically, my license expires Dec. 31, 2013. I didn't think it wise to put that on the information input so will wait until I get my official renewed status from the board. Sometimes one can't get too far ahead.
  3. I believe it was from the blog. There was some announcement, perhaps even mentioned here, that led me to that. I still have it on my desktop and downloaded it Oct. 10.
  4. I downloaded that tool several days ago without incident and ran it. My system passed with flying colors except for the screen resolution. Well, I can put it back to teeny, tiny numbers and not be able to read it or leave as is for my convenience. Not worried about that.
  5. Loved the music joke and will share at choir this week. Laughed out loud at the next one!
  6. Again, thanks for the chuckles. These were laugh out loud for me.
  7. Thanks for the morning chuckles!
  8. Rich, many of us will be holding you and your wife in our thoughts for successful surgery outcome. Family always comes before work, in my opinion.
  9. That was really fun! I think it's time to check out that movie again - been a long time.
  10. I saw that earlier this year. It is about the funniest thing ever! I laughed again this time nearly as hard as the first. Way to start a Monday....
  11. That's the deal I got in August. Could be their bottom or near bottom offer. Because I had very few issues, I took it and anticipate a better season. My tax was higher, though, at 6.5% so my total was $1133.16. $995 + s&h $69 + $69.16 tax. I like the program and have used it since 1997 filing season so am loath to change for my remaining couple of years. Even if it was no better than last year, I would not be grief stricken. I just really hated how slow it was to move between fields and the inflexibility of the letters. Well, maybe a few other gripes, too, but not so many.
  12. The cutest thing I've seen all day! Thanks, KC, for another smile.
  13. Go ahead, Tom. Bust those buttons right off your chest. You and HE have every right to be proud.
  14. Ah, yes, thanks Mr. Pencil. I just reread that part and understand now. She should have sold and given cash but it was easier to just donate stock. She could have used the losses, too. I will suggest she review better this year before making her gifts. Thanks again!
  15. The problem with that is that she has 12 organizations to list on 8283 for stocks and other non-cash contributions. It appears as though I can override on the data entry form the amount of deduction to reflect the cost but is that a de facto election? The total difference is about $5000, not insignificant. If I use line 16 as you suggest, will there be problem not entering it on 8283?
  16. Client donated several shares of stock to various organizations. In almost every case, the basis was higher than the fmv at the time of contribution. QF says that donor can elect to donate cost instead of fmv but I don't see such on the Elections/Statements form. In ATX, do I just input the cost basis for the deduction? Thanks.
  17. Jack from Ohio, best post ever from you! Thanks for the lighter side. I enjoyed it all. Share more of this any time!
  18. Good one! and I like the title of the thread.
  19. KC, where are you finding these great photos? I love each of them and can relate. I had dogs for about 60 years. Cats now as they are easier but I still have my granddogs! Thanks for sharing and making me smile.
  20. Depends on the fertilizer - maybe the grass would be 'fortified' or supplemented and more nutritious. I didn't see it coming, either, which is why I had to share. But, hey, he didn't have to do it, after all! Clearly sharing from his excess, even if grass, and not hoarding.
  21. One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine when he saw two men along the roadside eating grass. Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and got out to investigate. He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?" "We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied."We have to eat grass." "Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you, " the lawyer said. "But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree." "Bring them along," the lawyer replied. Turning to the other poor man he stated, "You may come with us, also." The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said, "But sir, I also have a wife and SIX children with me!" "Bring them all as well," the lawyer answered. They all piled into the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as the limousine was. Once underway, one of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you.†The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it. You'll really love my place. The grass must be a foot high."
  22. Awwww.... what a cute puppy!
  23. KPMG also has some very good free webinars. http://www.kpmginstitutes.com/ This is also with polling questions but most of the time real answers. The topics covered are all over the map, literally, but I have found the ones I choose have always been very informative and do command my attention.
  24. Thanks, I contacted ATX and Sandy remoted in and solved the problem. The new schema (whatever that is) did not like that on a short name for a rental property I had 03 801. It seems if there is a number, no space followed by another number is permitted. The client had 2 properties on the same street so I was distinguishing by house number. Changed to letter F801 (for Fourth Street 801) and now accepted. I couldn't put 4th as it was a number and was limited to 8 characters. Not as hard as I thought and now the cryptic explanation means something but I didn't speak the language very well and needed a translator!
  25. Alas, rejected again :(
