  1. Run Forrest RUN!! There is more to the story than she is telling.
  2. The "danger of e-mail being compromised" is way overblown and unrealistic. Safer than USPS. Please show me the documentation of someone "intercepting" email from another person. Now this is NOT where a person's email password gets compromised. That is usually what is called "email hacking," when in reality is it password theft. Does anyone else on here know the process necessary to intercept e-mail? My son is a software engineer and worked as level III tech support in a huge NOC. He showed and detailed the process. No one drives up outside your house and intercepts your e-mail.
  3. I am trying this tonight with 5 of the returns that have the issue. I will keep you posted.
  4. Does anyone have any ideas about my problem? Since 12.8 we have dozens like this. So far, the only thing I have found that works is to delete the return and start over. Many of these, however, we no longer have all the source information and recreating them will be a huge job, not to mention clients not understanding.
  5. The issue is far too complex for your poll to have any value.
  6. Follow the dependency checklist. Simple as that.
  7. Included in the price of MAX. When you installed Max it asked you if you wanted to install it, and there was an installation code included as well.
  8. We have spent $0.00 this year. If we replace the last 4 oldest machines, we will spend approx $2,500 or less. Count 3,000 clients with returns and that is peanuts. A Geo Metro meets minimum requirements for transportation of one person. To match your analogy. Why have larger car with bigger engine if a Metro will do the job?
  9. Go directly to 12.9. Download from the site and run it.
  10. These frauders were doing paper returns with Turbo Tax. Not likely they have EFIN.
  11. My experience with our network, using ATX since 2002, 3 different servers and server software in that time frame, replacing all 10 workstations in that time frame, Windows XP, WIN 7, adding RAM, changing video cards and assorted other hardware improvements have ALL increased speed, reduced errors and increased productivity. My recommendations are from first hand experience. My recommendations stand. I'll bet you drive a 3 cyl Geo Metro, right?
  12. Delete the 8812, close the return, open the return, add 8812 try e-file again.
  13. No. You must do a complete wipe and reinstall. Better to get a new workstation computer. You will benefit greatly from the speed of a new computer. Start over on the new computer. Make it a new workstation and watch how much better it works with ATX2012. I switched workstation computers that were ordered with a downgrade to XP. Upgrading to WIN 7 wiped the hard drive. You will be greatly pleased with the additional speed.
  14. We updated workstation computers from XP Pro to WIN7 Pro and much of the crashing went away. XP is very old now, and Microsoft is close to removing support for it. I would recommend a new workstation with i5 or higher quad core processor and at least 8GB RAM and make sure system is GigaBit compatible. ATX2012 is NOT friendly with XP or Microsoft Server software prior to Server 2008.
  15. Have you made all the adjustments to your system as recommended? Are you using XP or WIN7? WIN7 PRO 64bit is the most compatible. Told your anti-virus to ignore all ATX and CCH files? Upgraded your computer to maximum RAM? Using a newer fast processor? Using a 64bit Operating System? Checked for malware or spyware? Made sure all firewalls are either disabled or told to allow all ATX or CCH files? Deleted the Assets folder as described in several posts here? Are you using standalone or a network? Did you map the drive where ATX resides on the server on the workstations and install netsetup from the mapped folder? Have you uninstalled the ATX2012Workstation program from the workstations then delete the ATX2012 folder from the workstation, reboot the workstation and run netsetup again? Checked firewall settings on the server? All of these steps that have made a difference in our network and my standalone setup, I found on this discussion board. I have yet to call tech support. Installed 12.9 Friday at 5:30 PM and it appears to have solved many of the issues. Tomorrow morning will tell for sure. Just hoping to give you some help. For the record, every person reaches a point where rest is necessary. Software programmers do 10 times the mental work us tax preparers do. I can only imagine that some of the programmers are completely disgusted with managements choices concerning the engine they are using. Also, for the record, the spreadsheet based, Access 97 database program used by ATX till 2011 was barely compatible with the latest operating systems and server software. The change is 5 years overdue.
  16. Don't you just love when people play house, then when things go bad, they want results as if they were married!!
  17. If they do match, $1 will not even be looked at.
  18. In Return Manager, under support there is a link to install the Payroll program. You have to go to the ATX site and download the file and run it. It will do all payroll forms and the program is just like last year.
  19. Put $1 in box 1. Nothing in any other boxes besides box 12. Problem solved.
  20. Go directly to 12.9. Download from the site and run it.
  21. Download the 12.9 update from the ATX site and install it.
  22. Can you tell me the steps he had you take to "completely uninstall?"
  23. I stopped using Norton 5 years ago because if it's intrusive, hogish and "gets in the way of everything" nature. Second reason was the exhorbitent price they charge. Kaspersky. The Anti-Virus king on my computers and the firm's network.
  24. I have used it every year since it was offered. I add additional charge for the FeeCollect form and inform the taxpayer. All who request it do not care about the extra cost. They just don't want to write me a check. This is ok since I charge $20 for the form so I make an extra $5 for the 3 pages to fill out and 4 other consent forms to acknowledge. Most of the folks that use it also receive EIC, so in their mind, it is just a bit smaller refund. I stopped holding checks, and "Can I pay you when I get my refund?" requests and move all such people to FeeCollect. Only had one get their refund tagged, and I called and asked "Why didn't you tell me you owed back child support?" It shamed them enough that they showed up the next day with cash for the full amount including the FeeCollect fee. Tax time comes around every year. Every year I expect to get paid for my services. This is not new. Being prepared to pay me is not rocket science.
