  1. Nothing out of the ordinary on my end.
  2. AGREE 100%
  3. If you efile, YOU must be the ERO. Will not efile otherwise.
  4. All computers should have all Microsoft Windows important updates PERIOD. This includes Netframework. All computers should already be upgraded to Netframework 4.0. If not, this could be a major source of issues for those that seem to have them even after program updates. I believe the installation instructions said that the computer must have Netframework 4.0 for ATX2012 to operate properly.
  5. NOT CORRECT. The rehang button is for ATX to put it back out (rehang) so your computer can pickup the acknowledgment again.
  6. In efile manager, highlight the return in question. Then, at the top click support, then mouse over "Web Sites" and click on "Check IRS Refund Status." One of the neatest little tricks in ATX. Then see if the IRS has the return. Another option is to check status on your MYATX page. Log in as admin and check efile status. Put in each SS# and you can see the status.
  7. Dowload from the site. Follow the instruction for installation EXACTLY as written on the download page.
  8. 95% yes on my home standalone machine. Program opens, returns open, returns roll-over and e-files create faster. Print Manager only prints what I tell it now. Still loses the checkmarks in e-file manager where I select files, if I close the program. 90% yes on the network at the firm. I was even able to use the program on an XP machine.
  9. The loan was discharged on 1-27-12. She received 1099-C for the discharge. She was definitely insolvent then. My question is about any special caveat for student loans and using insolvency so the forgiveness is not taxed.
  10. Widowed client (2009) with student loan with a remaining balance of $22K. Been paying on the loan since 2005 and paid on time. Was awarded SS disability in Jan 2011 and is literally unable to work. Student loan forgiven Jan 2012 and 1099-C issued. Client has been insolvent since back surgeries etc. in mid 2010 did not allow her to work. Can I use insolvency as reason for the 1099-C to not be taxable income? Is there a special rule because it was a Student Loan that was forgiven?
  11. Download and install 12.10 from the website. Follow the instructions exactly as shown on the download page. Print manager is better.
  12. http://www.irs.gov/Refunds/Where's-My-Refund-It's-Quick,-Easy,-and-Secure. No pattern to the delayed refunds. I have clients that received their refund in 7 days. Some in 10 days. Another in 25 days. Some 28 days and counting. No pattern at all.
  13. I asked about Prosystems fx and was given a quote with a 35% discount. Product for 1,000 returns = $13K after discount. I nearly laughed out loud at the salesperson from CCH!!! I asked what Prosystems fx did that made it worth over 10 times as much as ATX. He rattled off some features (all of which ATX does) and I just simply, politely told him that his price was out of my budget range. I think everyone at CCH is delusional.
  14. If they enforce the $20 per filed return, what good is a refund policy? We have e-filed 300 so far. You do the math. I have e-filed 61 at home so far, so I am SOL here as well. No doubt that I will not have to call ATX tech support for tax year 2013. Waiting for the class action suit as well. I will add my name gladly. If my tax returns had the same level of accuracy and dependablilty as ATX this year, I would be out of business already.
  15. Download the file from the website. Follow the instructions for installing EXACTLY as shown on the download page. I am on my standalone computer at home now. Faster, no crashes and none of the problems others have been seeing.
  16. Patience is the word of the day! Next week, as announced by the IRS. Not sure exactly what day, but next week.
  17. Patience young grasshopper!!!
  18. Left at 4:00 4 hours. Even on the one remaining XP machine, no crashes, no data loss, no missing information, able to create e-files. Only glitch is a 6 year old machine I installed Windows 7 on doesn't seem to like to open the program. Actually had 7 people using the program simultaneously. All seem to work faster. Quicker program opening, return opening, rollover, e-file creation etc. Not rocket fast, but better than yesterday.
  19. Now been 1 hour. No crashes, no missing information.... Workstations are working faster. E-file process is faster. Stay tuned for further updates....
  20. I just installed 12.10 on my server, then on each workstation I uninstalled the ATX2012 workstation program, deleted the folder with the remnants of the program, rebooted, then ran netsetup again. Currently we have 5 people using it simultaneously and no crashes or issues yet. 15 minutes and running.
  21. If your server lives forever, you are correct. "It is just a matter of finding the right tech guy." will not make old software compatible with new equipment. When you have to purchase a new server, you remember my warnings. At that point, ask your "...right tech guy..." why he can't make the old software compatible with the new hardware. Here's hoping your hardware lasts forever.
  22. The HUGE difference is... You can still get service and repairs on your car and home. Not a good analogy.
  23. Think outside the box a moment... If I reduce my withholdings so that I owe $100 on my tax return, then someone else submits a fraudulent return ahead of me, I have NO refund to be delayed until August.
  24. A new Identity Theft PIN will be issued each year for 3 tax years. If no fraudulent activity happens in the three years, then it ceases.
  25. Even to the extent of owing a hundred or so. That way, no refund to wait for. This is good financial planning 101 anyway.
