  1. What makes ProSystems FX worth 17X as expensive as ATX? Does it do laundry and tend bar at the same time? Not buying it! Literally!!!
  2. I was quoted for ProSystem FX for 1,000 returns, all states, etc with a 35% special discount, $13,000. I laughed at him after I read the e-mail quote and called him.
  3. How many clients? The number of clients being backed up also has a direct effect.
  4. Get a document from both sides with dates. No dates, the IRS will not allow. First hand experience.
  5. It is now March 16 @ 6:00 PM and no word from tech support. I despise being lied to!! Now don't all you soft hearts start the "they have so many to deal with" line, none of my clients will accept that as an excuse if I am taking too long with their tax retrun. CCH has no care for customers or customer service. CCH RUINED a good piece of tax software under the guise of improving it. CCH is costing the firm I work for thousands of dollars. CCH SUCKS!
  6. Try doing that with 1,400 clients in the list. Takes 2 minutes each to create the new backup. You do the math... Backup is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE, and I fear for next year. One thing that the previous 7 years of ATX had was a ROCK SOLID backup file. Apparently the new development team does not understand the importance of secure data backup. Next year will be a NIGHTMARE!!
  7. Yet I had a client that received a CP2000 for "income not reported on a 1099R" and even on the notice the code in box 7 was G. They do indeed look, but most of the time without their glasses on. Merrill Lynch is not exempt from reporting any transaction over $10,000 to the IRS just as any other financial institution does.
  8. Nothing to do but wait. Have them write their Congressman and Senator expressing their disapproval of how things in the Governmant and the IRS are being handled. Both will have the same effect on how quick their refund gets processed. Also tell them that there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO and to stop calling you. I have made that statement dozens of times already this year.
  9. I don't use encryption or passwords on .pdf files I email. I don't waste my time on paranoia caused by too much TV, Movies and Urban myths.
  10. The injured spouse form stands on its own. It can be sent directly to the IRS. Check the Software or IRS website for correct address. No need to amend.
  11. Yesterday morning, 8:00AM. Twenty minute wait for the "customer service" person, 5 minutes convincing her that she would have a much better rest of the day if she just connected me to tech support. She switched me. 2 minutes I was talking to a tech. She had no answers but promised to "push" my situation up to the developers and even gave me a "bug" number. I was told they would call back the same day. 12:47PM today and still no return call. Guess I used up all my luck getting to a technician in only 27 minutes....
  12. That is exactly what I do, ever since the day CCH shut down the other board on April 7. I have yet to even go to the other board, much less log in.
  13. Nope. Open each file, add 7004, create e-file, then transmit. I just sent 27
  14. Who designs tax preparation software that is not compatible with server based networks? Only a company who want to have a customer base that has 100 or less tax clients!! Problem is, this is costing us money, reputation with our clients and HUGE problems for next year. How many software companies will be able to convert this new ATX disater?
  15. When you uninstall and reinstall, in order to get past the updates already installed, you must delete all the files created. This means restoring all the clients from the backup file once you have updated the program and all the forms. Tried that 3 weeks ago. Restored 657 clients from the back up file. Took 3.5 minutes each. You do the math.... After restoring, 25 returns were not there or had been corrupted and unusable. This was due to the program having been creating backup files that are incomplete and corrupted. DO NOT UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL IF YOU ARE ON A DOMAIN SERVER OR HAVE MORE THAN 200 CLIENTS.
  16. Not so simple with 2,900 clients and 8 preparers. NOT SIMPLE!!
  17. Does anyone know if there has been posted information about rolling back? 12.11 crippled us big time here at the firm. It was not good before 12.11, and now it is even worse. Class action lawsuit is ever present in my mind. Costing us thousands of dollars and the inability to take care of our customers in a timely manner means that it will cost us next year.
  18. Has there been any information or word about how to go back to version 12.10? Any info from the other board would be appreciated. It has crippled us here at the firm.
  19. Explain how a parent can "skip the exemption" and still claim the child as a dependent? Even so, the child who COULD be dependent of their parents cannot receive the refundable portion of the AOC. No confusion here on my part.
  20. Disagree. A dependent cannot claim AOC or LLC.
  21. Only the parent, who claimed her as a dependent may file for the credit. She cannot.
  22. What exactly was 12.11 supposed to "fix?" Program opens slower, returns open slower, e-filing process is slower... ATX! FIX THE FIX SOON!!! Stepping backwards just increases the amount we will be litigating for after tax season!!!! If anyone treads on the other board, feel free to copy my words! I will NOT go over there. Should have jumped ship in the first week of Feb. Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me, Fool me thrice, I am a blithering idiot, Fool me 5 times, and I am a poster child for stupidity and ignorance!!!
  23. Skeptical, I am. Trash, they have sold us. Star Wars movies, too many I watch...
  24. I am heading to Arby's to get some food. I will tough through the guilt to quiet my stomach!!
  25. I met Kimmie at the ATX2012 Seminar in Kennesaw, GA in December. She seemed sweet and genuinely concerned with proper customer service when I talked to her about the ability to unprotect and change forms. Maybe life has changed her since then?
