  1. It is a program problem that ATX is apparently not going to fix. There are 3 other threads in the e-file forum. Bottom line, put the interest on line 48 marked other interest. It will let you e-file.
  2. Thank you so very much for all your work and effort. A big thanks to the moderators as well. I am intimately aware of how much work it is. Please do not be shy if the need for funds becomes a reality. This site is more help than I can describe. I get answers to questions by reading other posts. Many times the exact information I need is there. THANK YOU ERC!!

  4. I live 12 miles from the Indiana border. Neither the IT40PNR, nor the IT40RNR can be e-filed. I have about 15 of them a year.
  5. Choose Bank Manager Then choose reports at the top. Then choose Fee Report Everything you want to know about all bank products, including Fee Collect, will be there. It will even print.
  6. I'm not sure I deserve such words, but Thank You. I try to be informed, but learn something every day from folks on this forum.
  7. Check the 1099-G. If the zip code field is blank, select it and delete it. I know it sounds crazy, but what have you got to lose? It worked for me many times last season.
  8. Jerry, you are correct in your assessment.
  9. I am totally confused by this thread. When I enter any amount in the SS income worksheet, the totals show in 20a. Only the taxable part shows in 20b. What is the concern? I tried it in all possible scenarios, and the number shows in 20a every time. ATX changed that in the 2006 program. In 2005 it would only show if there was taxable SS. Am I the only one that know this? If is shows on the form, it will be sent with the e-file. For the elderly who do not believe in e-file, if it shows on the screen, it prints as well. Just call me confused?????
  10. From the IRS website... <"If you are eligible for a payment, all you have to do is file a 2007 tax return and the IRS will do the rest," said Acting IRS Commissioner Linda Stiff.> < The IRS will use information on the 2007 tax return filed by the taxpayer to determine eligibility and calculate the amount of the stimulus payments.> <The IRS will mail two informational notices to taxpayers advising them of the stimulus payments. However, taxpayers should be alert for tax rebate scams such as telephone calls or e-mails claiming to be from the IRS and asking for sensitive financial information. The IRS will not call or e-mail taxpayers about these payments nor will it ask for financial information. Scam e-mails and information about scam calls should be forwarded to [email protected].> <Notices Most taxpayers will receive two notices from the IRS. The first general notice from the IRS will explain the stimulus payment program. The second notice will confirm the recipients' eligibility, the payment amount and the approximate time table for the payment. Taxpayers will need to save this notice to assist them when they prepare their 2008 tax return next year.> I choose not to get into the "predict the future" game when it comes to the actions, calculations, or follow-through of the IRS. There is nothing I can do to change what will happen.
  11. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179095,00.html Dividends, interest and capital gains income is not included when determining qualifying income. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment. Also not included in qualifying income are non-veterans or non-Social Security pension income (such as those from Individual Retirement Accounts). All the information you need is here: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html You should probably get very familiar with all the points. You will certainly need to know them.
  12. Try deleting the entire zip code field, and re-enter. Sometimes a stray space before or after the number gets in there.
  13. I e-filed 148 yesterday, when I got to work today, 145 accepted, one duplicate DCN, and two Fed rejects. I think the traffic is finally thinning...
  14. I hate to sound like the pesimist, but I have a feeling that the chances of either of those things happening is very slim. Since CCH took over the helm, caring about the customer is a thing of the past. Just for the record, at our firm we will do 3,000+ returns this season. Jumping ship, even between seasons is a major undertaking. That being said, we will probably use another program next year.
  15. If you have a router, you do NOT need any software firewalls. The router, by its very nature has a hardware firewall in it. Turn off ALL software firewalls, reboot, and try again. Also turn off all "system protection" programs, except your anti-virus.
  16. I have always used both. Solves the problem all around. A simple one-time fix. Not a new problem or a new solution.
  17. There is the best way (line 16b) or there is a good way that works (line 48). At the firm here, we looked at the options... 1) Paper file aprox 1,500 returns instead of e-file (by using line 16b). 2) Move the interest to line 48 and e-file the same 1,500 returns. It was a difficult decision, but we chose #2.
  18. I call this situation the "Playing House" tax credit.
  19. I guess I don't understand why this is improper. Inconvenient? Yes. But not improper.
  20. I have not experienced all the things mentioned above. I have some acks delayed, but I am sure it is a traffic problem due to everyone (ignoring the plea to space them out) sent all the delayed returns in on Monday. I sent mine today, and most have acknowledged already.
  21. The solution is to put the interest on line 48 marked as "Other Interest" and remove it from line 16. The programmers are DEAD WRONG. William Trasker sent me an e-mail directly telling me it was a program problem, and it would be fixed in 24 hours. That was about 14 days ago. Apparently CCH thinks it knows more about ATX and tax law than William. Boy are they proving how stupid they (CCH) are!! Support is a useless waste of payroll. I will bet anyone a steak dinner at the restaurant of their choice, that the person who decided to dismantle Caribou Maine, has NEVER TOUCHED a tax return. Any takers??
  22. Part year Ohio can be e-filed, I am not sure about part year Illinois. If the client lived part year in a taxing school district, the part year SD CANNOT be e-filed. If you try, the System at the state will change it to full year and send your client a bill... Been there many times last year. The information telling that the part year SD100 cannot be e-filed is burried very deep.
  23. It has NOT been fixed yet. I know what this says about their (CCH) priorities. They should NOT have laid off all the QUALIFIED people from Maine. Yes, I have sent e-mails, and yes, I have sent suggestions, but I REFUSE to wait for an hour or more on tech support just to find out that they really have no idea what the problem means, much less how to fix it. We should all e-mail the text from the posts to all the upper management at CCH. Don't think it will do any good, but... I have a bigger issue with the way e-file errors are (not) reported on the returns.
