  1. In a kitchen, especially when they're busy, there's nothing harder to get right than a special order. It disrupts your training and/or slows you down. Robots would be better at it.
  2. Bringing down the budget deficit, one tax cheat at a time.
  3. I used to password protect my PDFs but it was a PITA to open them, and I mostly did that just to email them. Even if Windows had password protected folders, there's still no way to add MFA to that process, unless Windows creates it.
  4. How are we going to use MFA to access PDFs of client data on our drives? Totally unrealistic.
  5. Greeeaat. I'm sure ATX will implement this flawlessly. I sure hope I can use an authenticator on my phone and not rely on getting a text from ATX.
  6. Surely they can't mean to access our own software on our own computers, but they don't make that clear.
  7. Can't she just give it to the client?
  8. Glad you're on the mend and were wise enough to seek help! Did you have the pneumonia vaccine? I've had both the shingles and pneumonia vaccines. I have breathing issues and had bad bronchitis a few years back.
  9. Set up their access in your office with them and have them come in to access their account with you. #handholding. But most people will be fine with it and I encouraged all of my clients to get online access. I hear it's the future!
  10. I have both. I'm always concerned about how these 3rd party business handle personal privacy.
  11. AI is blaming the new guys.
  12. You could say that the entire internet is a cloud, but that would be abusing the term and making it meaningless. My browser is still local software.
  13. Efiling is sent over the internet but I can still work on tax returns locally while the internet is being restored. If my tax software was cloud, I'd have to find something else to do.
  14. It would pretty damn useless for me to have a forum just on my computer that no one else could access.
  15. And this is just one of the reasons why I've always avoided "cloud" software.
  16. It's not specifically excluded, so I'd say it's UBI. https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/unrelated-business-income-tax-exceptions-and-exclusions
  17. Well, we all know how well that works out.
  18. I think it would have been less confusing and more clear if the IRS had put the QCD subtraction on the Sch A. I've come close to taking the charitable contribution by mistake more than once because there was an acknowledgement that does not indicate it was paid for with a QCD.
  19. Agreed. And my experiences may be outdated, BUT I've never had a problem with or been let down by ESET. It never slows down your computer or other device.
  20. Timely article. One reason I have added protection is because not everyone in my household is as computer savvy as I am. Plus it covers it android devices, as well. https://www.zdnet.com/article/do-you-still-need-to-pay-for-antivirus-software-in-2024/
  21. I don't care. It's been problematic too many times for too many people. Besides, how do we know those reviews are not bought and paid for? Others to avoid are Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky.
  22. Avast is the absolute worst. The only one I've used that I like in the past 30+ years is ESET. You're better off just using the windows built in antivirus.
