  1. I said earlier; I am SICK of people complaining about these forms not being ready!!!! On TP Exchange, people are complaining about ATX. The other companies may not be printing 'DO NOT FILE' on the forms, but paper the paper filers returns are just stacking up at the service centeres. DOESN'T ANYONE READ THE FRICKIN' NEWS?
  2. When I called in, my installation code was off by one number too. And now when I check in, the installation code online matches the one they gave me over the phone, not the one I actually used to install the software. Wrote both of them down. Found where I wrote my password down. Whew. Now I just gotta remember to change the password.
  3. You can just answer the CP2000 with a 982 or a reasonable facsimile; I've either sent in bankruptcy papers if relevant or done a balance sheet with assets & liabilities computing how much, if any, of the cancelled debt is taxable. Better get on them; the 30 days has passed if they got the CP2000s in December, and Notices of Deficiency may have already been issued. If they have, you only have 90 days to get the thing resolved.
  4. Damn, I just tried to go in, and hell if I can't remember my password. I have three different ones I use alot, and can't remember which one it was. Iknow better now than to click 'I forgot my password' because it will reset with my installation code; but its not the code on your paperwork from ATX. Which necessitates a phone call. Oh good! I found it!!!
  5. I had that problem with last year's program. For some reason I had the code for the 1040 suite, not 1040 Office, and the problem started when I tried to open the 4th State. Check in your support/about/ and see if what you purchased is listed there. I had to get tech support to give me a new installation code.
  6. My roommate (the tech geek) put 2 gigs of RAM in my computer last week. Up from 512MB. It faster. Me happy.
  7. Will they be processed correctly??? Its the IRS that has said the forms could not be filed until Feb.11. I am getting REALLY TIRED of so-called preparers that can't keep up with taxes enough that month old info is news to them!!!
  8. I just tried to create a return using PDF factory and it froze my computer.
  9. I don't remove myself for my own return. And then I give myself a nice dinner for payment!

    Form 5329

I don't understand why you don't need the 5329 if the code was 1. Code one means early withdrawal, no exception to the penalty. So if you have one of the allowed exceptions, you need the 5329 to show the exception.
  11. I've had problems emailing PDFs. If I send from Yahoo, the file is corrupted, (didn't have a problem with this last year) and I just sent one from hotmail, and she got 14 pages, but they were all blank. I open the file I've created on my computer just fine. Any ideas?
  12. Yow! you are fast if you have a program running already. I can't imagine writing a tax program in a couple of weeks. Of course I can't imagine writing any kind of program in any amount of time.... But just ask me a couple of tax questions! Yeah, I got some uses!
  13. Yeah, I know. But I was doing payroll during some of those swings and it was whacked when the withholding changed mid year. I think that was the year of the famous rebates. Way back, I got commissions at one job. I did make a stink when they weren't taking squat out of my bonus checks; not nearly as much as out of the regular ones. They said not to worry. I owed at the end of the year. Boy was I pissed. Then I raised a bigger stink. Seems the bonus checks were calculating as though that was all the money I was getting (like having two jobs will screw up your withholding). But it was the same company. So I do have some empathy. Not that I think the TP above has any recourse.
  14. Pop Tarts. toasted. mmmmmmmmm
  15. Of course, every year for a few years they were doing wierd things with the withholding with the government lowering the tax rates and the withholding tables. So if it was done at the beginning of the year, who would know if too little was being withheld because of the screwy things being done to the withholding. So even if someone noticed, its likely the payroll department would say the tables changed and the employees would think whoopee! I get more money now! Isn't our government great?

    1099-Q

    $178. and a penalty
  17. But it should calculate each form separately. I think you have to manually enter the interest/taxes rather than just checking the box to bring it from the Sch. A, but the depreciation should be calculated based on when the office was either put into service or taken out of service. Utlilites and other expenses are per house. and then the limitations would be based on percentage of income earned per location.
  18. I thought I saw here, but maybe on another thread, how to make ATX print your signature on the 8879. KC, was it you that knew how to do this? I have the signature printing on the return, but not the 8879.
  19. I haven't had a problem with this (2 8829 for one biz). Its a pretty common problem if you move.
  20. Why can't you split the vehicle between two Sch C? You enter the vehicle twice; asset entry for each biz. You enter total expenses for the vehicle on each and let the program allocate when you put in the biz miles per each biz. So van is driven 40000 miles total, 10000 for one biz, 20000 for the other and 10000 personal. one biz gets half usage, the other gets a quarter, and one quarter is personal. I've done this for my car which is used for rentals as well as my biz.

  25. I've seen so many screwed up 8606s; I started having nightmare visions of 'nontaxable' and 'penalty free' being confused....
