  1. Why can't you split the vehicle between two Sch C? You enter the vehicle twice; asset entry for each biz. You enter total expenses for the vehicle on each and let the program allocate when you put in the biz miles per each biz. So van is driven 40000 miles total, 10000 for one biz, 20000 for the other and 10000 personal. one biz gets half usage, the other gets a quarter, and one quarter is personal. I've done this for my car which is used for rentals as well as my biz.

My home office is off 65th St in Sac, and I have a job in Citrus Heights.

    OMIGOD!

We had a little bit of sun after the fog burned off this morning. Now it looks like it is going to rain.....again. I think we saw sun for 4 days in January....
  4. Insert the disc and then select new forms??

    OMIGOD!

Now the Community looks just like the sky here in Sacramento!
  6. I've seen so many screwed up 8606s; I started having nightmare visions of 'nontaxable' and 'penalty free' being confused....
  7. Its Form 5329, not the 8606. The 8606 is for basis in the IRA. Exception 9. 'First home purchase' means if no home ownership in prior two years.
  8. Bankruptcy and insolvent are not the same things. If taxpayer is in bankruptcy, no 1099-C income. If insolvent (and I think retirment accounts are included) then no income.
  9. Day-old starbucks mozzarella sandwich (roommates work at starbucks), ice cream sandwich (yum!) and pretzels.
  10. That's just it; its not subject to 1099 reporting. The other one I'm seeing is the real estate agent issuing one for a 'rebate' on the commission, which should be a reduction in the sale price, and reduction of commission, not on a 1099.
  11. An insurance payment would not be taxable income either, but a reduction in basis.
  12. Seems to me like it would be a reduction in basis.
  13. I'm just being very very cynical about the tax law changes, updates, rebates, & general shuffling of $$ from one hand to the other at this very moment. *Sigh* Its too early in the season for me to be thinking "Is it over yet?"
  14. Wow. So we get to try to figure out how much of the refi is accquisition debt, and prorate the mortgage interest accordingly. As you can tell I am underwhelmed at the prospect.
  15. Oh, and the 'admin' user name is now in CAPS.
  16. I got through. If you reset the password, they tell you to use your 20 digit installation code. Trouble is, the code they reset it too may not be your actual code you got to install the software. The one I had to enter was 2 digits off from the installation code that came with the software. The tech person said the codes apparently change every time you call in !!!!! I said, how are you supposed to know the code then? She didn't know. Only took about 5 or 10 minutes on hold though.
  17. Max. I was actually having a good day until I tried to go onto myATX. well at least the hold for Tex Upport wasn't too long. My 'activation code' they reset my password with wasn't the same as the actual activation code I used to install my program. Two changed digits. No sense whatsoever. Now if I can find out what's up with the CA efiles....
  18. Yeah, I'm on hold. I've always gotten the number off the website if I needed it or off the materials sent. They didn't send it this year. Need to put it in my PDA
  19. Like, all of you looking at this does anyone have the number????
  20. I've gotten no books, and now I'm locked out of my account. Mel, please design some software soon!!!
  21. Can we please keep the phone numbers for ATX somewhere on this website since I've been locked out of my *&^%ing account and the only number I seem to have is for Taxwise sales???? I am really reallly really pissed off right now and If I can't get through I will be even more pissed off.
  22. COPIED??? can you please tell us exactly what they said because I've been locked out of my account when I tried to go in and find out what the *(&^ was goint on????
  23. I agree with TaxmannEA. That's why I think my guy came out on top; the FD was free to do, or not do, with it what they wanted, when they wanted to do it.
