    POA

This power of attorney says right in it that it "shall continue regardless of any change in my competency until death unless i shall earlier revoke." I thought that was the reason for a POA.

    POA

tell me if I am correct in reading about the POA. I am doing a return for my client that now has a POA with his son. the POA does not specificaly say he can sign the tax return. so does this mean to efile the return they have to have a 2848 completed? the parents both have altzheimers(sp) and son is handling all their affairs. I do have a legal copy of the POA but the exact words do not say sign the tax return. thanks

We are not a community property state and she does not live over any "line". What my original question was and I may have not stated it in the right way. But when I file MFS what do I do without a SS number for the spouse. leave it blank. I did say last year H & R block filed her single and thought maybe I was missing something

No one living with her. not supporting parents. married two years ago. last year she filed as single with H & R block
  8. Does Medlin payroll have a web community like this to ask question? I have a client who uses your payroll and needs help with the S corp employee health insurance added to the wages and w-2. she does not go online and I have looked on your website.

  11. IRS will notify them in January if they will need to file 944. Start with the 941 for this year.
  12. yes you can efile without doing anything different than federal. you don't even have to use the EF signing page if you use the 8879
  13. I don't think the taxes would be the same because you would owe SE if you put on C I would be on line 21. misc income. he not in the business of photo contest or even photography
  14. you have to show a profit on the C to use the SE insurance. He can take on A under medical
  15. agree 2010 is past. move on with 2011 and have THEM do it correctly this year for payroll. if they get audited or questions just answer with what really happened in 2010 and show that the error was corrected in 2011 and now are paying wages.
  16. what version of quickbooks will you be using? I bought a new computer in January with a 64 bit and windows 7 and I could not get older verison of quickbooks to work on it. I know there is a work around but for me I could not do it in January. also heard on this board that some of the older atx programs wouldn't work on 64 bit I wnet back to using by old computer just put more ram in it and made sure I had double back up

  24. ok #1 #2 is because they can be married to someone who fits the right age. # 4 is because the child still lives with them and just because they gave up exemption doesn't mean they give up EIC. # 1 I have to think about first. hmmm I better look up # 1
