  1. From the Print options you should be able to select the forms you would like to see print. There is also a custom print option avaialable.
  2. Pete, This forum is to assist other tax preparers with any tax tecnical issues. We all do agree that ttere are issues with Depreciation schedule and some other forms. we need to thank our government for passing the law so late in January. as Joan pointed out that these forms will not be ready/approved by IRS until late February.
  3. I agree with Jack.. this is 2013.. I am also an IT Guy and know for sure that any new software will need more Momery in this day and age. I do not delve on the old program of how great it waspeople just need to adjust to the new program. i have 8GM ram on my lap top and have installed on Server running 2008 wtih 4 workstations. I do not have any issues except it is slow loading the program.
  4. Catherine, There is a blank Template whcih you can use and recreate the letter the way you want to. Open any return and go to Client letter>Edit Formatting>Template>Blank..
  5. This is what is posted.. 12.5 -- What is in it? The target date for the 12.5 update is Monday, January 28th. This list will grow over the next few days. As I see items marked as completed and ready for testing, I will add them to this list. This is not an all inclusive list of defects, but a great resource for you to use. It is broken down into functional areas of the application. The numbers at the end are for my reference. Rollover Corrected a problem where the cell name trying to be rolled was missing, which was causing the application to crash. The cell name is Information added to the form in 2012 in preparation for 2013 rollover. The code was looking for the cell in the prior year and causing a crash. Modified the timing between the application and the rollover service: extended the amount of time the application is waiting for the rollover service to start. We have also changed the messaging if this happens after 12.5 that will allow you to link to a knowledge base article that describes how to manually start the rollover service. Client Letter State Client Letter - Modifying the "Mail to" section now allows the user to enter multiple characters (143804) Return Manager Corrected display issues when deleting returns. The return counter will reflect the accurate number of returns after the deletion process. The remaining returns that were not cosmetically displaying in the list now remain visible. (133921) Billing Resolved the issue where the billing invoice was not calculating until discarded and added back to the return. (146707) Billing invoice can now be added from the Forms menu without creating an exception error (146703) Printing Custom, text, or itemized list will now print with the tax return (145419) Performance Improvements for updating forms and opening returns on a networked environment (146708)

Another pop up bix (Modify User) enter PW in Password. Close the program and open it again. Admin will not open without the password. Devesh Mehta, EA New Jersey
  12. I have also been using ATX (MAX) since mid to late 90s. As long as it is cost effective, I wouldn't change it. How ever I haven't tried any ohter programs in last few years.
  13. Lynn, If you still have issues you can send me an offline email @ [email protected]
  14. Lynn, I just updated the program (Just to make sure).. When I am in edit mode I am able to switch to preview either by selecting from View at the top or toggle between Preview/Edit. To print you will need to attach the Engagement letter to the current return and than print it.

    WIN8

Randall, I bought a Toshiba 17" laptop. No it is not a touch screen. I have following setup: All programs are loaded on to a server running 2008. 1 Desktop and 3 laptops running Win7. 1 Laptop running WIN8 (new laptop) just to try it out. Jack, Agreed. i would not want to try a new computer with a new realese during the Tax season. I will try it our during November/December as these are the slow months.
  17. With the new Program there is a new Security Manager under TOOLS. you will need to assign users and password.

    WIN8

I just bought a Laptop that came with WIN8. Will load ATX2012 later today and let the board know the results. I have already loaded ATX Client writeup and is working fine. However as Jack pointed out there is a learning curve for WIN 8 if you do not have the touchscreen.
  19. I have had that happen last year for a client. We called NY Tax Dept and there was an error with Tax Dept. They knew they had a problem and fixed it over the phone. Call them.
  20. We all pray for you and Don.

  22. Here's what I found from their Website... Tax Preparer Compliance Fee (Per paid return). Fee consists of costs incurred by H&R Block to comply with new U.S. tax preparation registration requirements.
  23. Have a client recevied 10k from the Landlord for vacating the Apartment. Had Cleint speak to Landlord's bookkeeper and was told there would be NO 1099 issued. Client wants to report the amount. My inclination is to report on Line 21 of 1040 (Under ????) Have been on the phone with IRS for over an hour and still on Hold. Any thoughts on this would be greatly aprredicated.
