  1. But, you have to agree that it WOULD work!
  2. The client called you from her sick bed, right? So, you're calling the auditor to meet her at her office, right? With only the info requested in the letters. Your answers are yes, no, and I'll contact my client when she's feeling better and get back to you. You'll hand over items as she asks for each one. Good luck.
  3. Don't use Hotmail, but maybe uninstall and then redownload Hotmail. (Something in your file is missing or not going to the right place.) Good luck.
  4. Gee, and I usually check Snopes first. But, I was more concerned with the attitude of the piece than whether or not it came from the proposed source. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a candidate.
  5. Well, he has a few things I disagree with, some rather severely. But, I like his general attitude of taking care of USA first. If we can't be strong and financially healthy and united, then we won't be very efficient at taking care of the rest of the world, anyway! Let's fix this country first. I might vote for him.
  6. CT is doing employment audits, as well as the CT Dept. of Labor. They're looking for misclassified employees. And, sales tax. They've politely been called the "Audits from Hxxl." Audit department went from only 10 employees to 30 or 40. It was suggested by a lawyer speaking at a CtSEA meeting that we warn our small businesses to keep Form CT-W4 forever.
  7. Hope your client bought JH's guarantee. Is it void if they have anyone other than JH represent them?
  8. PS: With the loss, round numbers, and apparent lack of books, you should also be on the look-out for hobby loss rules. Does anything in the IRS letter suggest they suspect this activity was not run like a business?
  9. If JH operates like HRB, they keep absolutely nothing except the electronic version of the return and return ALL client documents and lists and...to the client. HRB staples them into the client folder that contains the return. If you have the client folder from your client, you can see what documentation he gave his preparer. Everything else was given verbally by your client to his preparer. Or, if the preparer was trying to be helpful, maybe he filled in some blanks. If the client qualified for or purchased the JH version of Peace of Mind, he might be in line for free audit representation by an EA from JH plus JH reimbursement of his additional taxes as well as penalties and interest. If you're not trying to retain this client for future years (record-keeping is a mess, for instance) then you might return him to the nearest JH for help and representation.
