  1. Many software companies were letting people e-file during the hiatus, and holding them until e-file opened. It's the same as if you'd done that.

  2. You will have to mail a paper return to the Austin, TX address in the W-7 instructions. In her SS box of the 1040, enter APPLIED FOR. All the required documents are sent along with the return. Figure on 6 months for processing.

  4. Yes. See my post above. I think we are all in agreement that you can e-file the return within three days of the gates opening in this situation.

  5. Thanks, Catherine. I already reset my password as noted above. I was actually surprised it 'took' since the last one was from January 2016! I guess since I didn't inactivate the account, that was the only thing needed! There will be SS and MC tax due so how is that paid? The church forgot to run about $475 'extra' pay through the regular payroll so no taxes were withheld and remitted.

  6. Thanks Paul. I think it has something to do with the "Save Selections" because when I was printing I checked that box and then it stopped working. I basically did the above by trial and error and it worked. Tom Modesto, CA

  7. Lots of people. Here is ATXKristin's proposed kludge. Hopefully the next release, due out soon, will fix this. "Re: 1099/1096 printing issues Please try this for now. I have reported the issue to development. 1. Make sure the save selections option is not selected in Preferences. 2. In the print manager – uncheck all options on the Payroll tab. 3. Uncheck Save Selections. 4. Reprint from the Filing ta either to printer or PDF. 5. Reopen the Print Manager and you will be able to print from the Payroll tab."

  8. Yeah, it's suppose to sync, but whenever I would try to send something from ATX program to the portal, nothing would happen. Maybe they improved it for this year. Also please watch out for any return that you change the address on. Part of the training I went thru was to get all of my ATX clients into the portal data base. That went very smoothly, however whenever I would make a change on the tax return thru ATX (such as address) then you will get a pop up asking if you want to sync with the portal, I said yes of course, but what happened was instead of changing the address in the portal, it changed it on the tax return. I had several of these happen throughout the filing season and didn't figure it out until then end when I counted the number of returns that had been filed with the old address. Not saying it will happen this year, but check it out. Make sure that before you transmit the return, the address did not change back to the old one.
