  2. Thank you all. She says she does have proof that she paid more for it, just wasn't sure she could use it. Sounds like I can use the actual amount paid providing documentation exists.

  3. We do not offer job accounting/tracking. The phone recording says you can contact us directly via email, or via an email form on our web --- We stopped offering phone support in 2019. This allows us to be fair, and efficient, with our support. We stopped allowing voice mail messages in 2021, as many were not leaving their email information, customer ID, etc. We stopped accepting text/SMS messages as well, for the same reasons, and because they are simply inefficient, as they do not contain any of the previous information. We were also getting SMS messages such as "help", or "what is wrong", in other words, messages it is impossible to give a solution to. Since at least 2010, the overwhelming majority support questions have been arriving via email. When we get a stack of messages awaiting replies (such as overnight, waiting for a reply when we open for the day), it is not fair to bypass the queue and allow a phone caller to jump the line of those already waiting. We have pondered offering paid support, but we run into the same issue of fairness. We are not comfortable with someone having to wait longer because another person paid to jump the line. Even on our most busiest days, Mondays and Fridays in September, December, and January, we are usually able to reply within an hour. We strive to offer a usable reply/solution in our first reply, saving you from waiting longer to get back to work. We also OFTEN reply outside of business hours, especially if the message contains complete information explaining the issue. Thank you for your understanding.

  4. QBO does not allow you to delete accounts; it's one of the more horrid aspects of that particular abomination. Best you can do is make them inactive, and configure all reports never to display inactive accounts.

  5. I think QBO doesn't allow that to prevent customers from creating an unbalanced mess.

  6. I don't see any difference between this and knowing any clients checking account number and routing number in order to print payroll checks, accounts payable checks, reconcile a clients bank account or set up a tax refund direct deposit. A dishonest accountant can use any of this information for fraudulent purposes. In over 30 years I recall screwing up a tax deposit amount once and a tax due date another time. I reimbursed my client for the penalties and interest both times.

  7. Nor, have I. We just recently purchased a plat of land in WI. My Warranty Deed only says "For a Valuable Consideration". Have the client do some digging for paperwork, cancelled check, etc on the actual sale. It is usually worth their while. I have had some dandies in the past few years, where the land was practically worthless when they got it, but they forget about all of the costs of purchase and sale and/or any improvements they have made over the years. You might be surprised ie: "Oh, I had a well put in, etc."

  8. Remember, this is a legal document, not a financial document. Every deed I have seen, (and I've seen a lot), started with: "For the sum of $1 and other valuable consideration" (exact wording). Maybe that is Ohio's legalese, but I've never seen a deed give a selling price.

  9. So if all the paperwork says $1, did they pay the additional $ ??? in cash?

  10. I have never been able to access what I want from e-services. After much frustration, I just gave up and have not tried it for a few years now.

  11. I'm so very sorry. It's hard to lose a furry family member, and an office staffer, too. I'll miss seeing his pic. Hugs to you.

  12. My little doggers - Vinny - passed away a few weeks ago. He was with me for 14 years and was a major part of my tax practice as the social and welcoming committee. He had his own Instagram and I swear I got clients because of him. We had gotten him in January. We live in western NY and my husband is the town highway superintendent. So in January, he's pretty busy with roads. When I called him to go down to the house and check on my new puppy and he told me he was too busy, I started bringing him to work with me. He peed on lots of clients that year, and W2s and tax returns. As soon as he heard the door open, he'd be up and running to see who it was. I had a number of clients who would bring him toys and treats. I'm missing him!
